Constanza Connie -update - Craig Cornish's Blog

Just wanted to give a shout out to Connie Marcum Wong, our compatriot here on the soup. A few years ago she invented the Constanza form, which was first introduced here on the Soup 5 years ago by Andrea D. as a contest (because Connie is too modest to introduce her own form). The form (I think) is magical in that it combines the finest attributes of many of the repeting. rhyming, metrical, and other inventive forms that preceded it over the centuries. No, it is not free verse, which is the most recent darling of the publishing world, but it is fun and certainly, like some other restictive forms not immune to creative presentation. My contest is the third (as far as I know) offered in this form and I am honored to do so. Check out the contest rules which are a minor change from Connie's, primarily to restrict some length. Please read all of the rules--NEW POEMS ONLY---and thanks again Connie, a fine poet, an inventive poet, and a true Lady.

I WOULD LIKE TO CLARIFY ON THE RHYME--CLOSE RHYME IS OKAY, I DON'T DEMAND EXACT RHYME ESPECIALLY BECAUSE OF THE MONORHYME SECTION WHICH WOULD RESTRICT CREATIVITY--IF YOU NOTICE, MY EXAMPLE IS CLOSE RHYME--YOURS CAN BE AS WELL. THANK YOU
