The Big Tweet is out!!

Blog Posted:2/28/2014 4:50:00 PM
Looks to have been a good choice of time today. I know it is most people's Friday evening, but it appears I live about 19 hours ahead of Poetry Soup, and probably Twitter. Each poem posted had at least three tweets by other people between them, and that was on my screen! So hopefully the exposure is good. I posted two photo poem tweets either side of today's collection, but unfortunately haven't followed Ruben's instructions yet, so am unable to post them on this page. However I am going to post the text, and add the poems to My Photos. Or you can see it all on twitter @poetscott37.

Ok I did do this a little differently than I intended. Thanks to you all I ended up with 7 poems submitted to this collection. So I chose to warm up the Twitter hordes with two yesterday, they were preceded with a text tweet of my own (probably one of my best), which I will post here soon. These two poems have gained about 50 more reads between them, since I posted them about 11 hours ago. Hopefully today's efforts will increase those numbers futher.

So the order of poems-
My Fri night:
F.J. Thomas - The Last Architect-Constanza
Catie Lindsey - Wrestling Rabbits and Dreams

My Sat morning:
David Williams - A Life that Was
Robin Davis - Society's Ignorance
Andrea Dietrich - Animal Magnetism
O, Ruben Hat - The Female dog's Back
A. Skat - Girl Interrupted

Best of luck to us all.

Cheers
Scott

Ok, ok, cut and pasting Ruben's comment I've just realised that there was an easier way. Your e-mail alerts have lead you here anyway. Oh this is a whole lot of learning. LOL

This is an obvious cut and paste job, as I’m not sure who will check this blog again. Thanks heaps for submitting your poems to this, I have learnt a whole heap. One thing that I now know is that I don’t need to be so concerned when I tweet, as the read numbers ran from about 31 to 46, over all 7 poems, despite the 8 hour difference in the Tweeting time. These numbers are fairly consistent with my previous efforts. There were retweets which will have helped, thanks to all for those. Next time I am going to target some of the older gents of Soup, and look at posting 3 instead of five. For my own lot, I gained about 4 more followers, welcome David, which with my meagre follower base makes a difference, and expands the amount of influence for the future. Thank you all again mostly for your submission and therefore faith in me, but also for your gratitude, it buoys me up for future endeavours.

Scott. I would like to see the two on twitter you have right now. But I have never in my life done twitter. I put in twitter @poetscott37 at Google but just a few other poet twitters came up, not yours. How do I get to yours?

DAvid, I just went there and saw your poem and a few others. I am like a fish out of water and don't understand how it all works. I tried to do a reply but not sure the purpose of them over there. Gosh, I think I need a tutorial both on FB AND on Twitter accounts. Also I thought i had signed up but when I went to do a reply on your poem, it sent me to apply again!

Society's Ignorance got special attention from a man I know -in real life. He gave it a retweet and said "awesome poem".

The why for the publicity minded is easy- publicity. My Twitter account is a fledgling affair, having only 64 followers, some mere humans have tens of thousands, while superstars have millions. Now my meagre influence, with the help of favs and retweets, gained an average of 35ish reads for each of these poems, to mid day today; meaning in 24 hours post the Big Tweet. That's about the life span of a tweet, I don't expect anymore traffic related to this effort. I would also suspect that there could be a flow on effect in each poets collection, Chan has certainly reported so in the past. So that's the why. As for the how, it might be easier to try a step by running through it, as I live so far from you both in geography and time. But I am happy to help in anyway possible.
