The Carnivores Nextdoor

The Carnivores Next Door

rate the worth and pleasure
	of their morning
by the number of shattered lives
	they return home dragging

at times there’s broad smiles
	and load boasting
gathered friends
	who lend to the barbarism
their congenial
	conspiratorial toasting

revelling in the blood and sinews
	of the fallen
avoiding non-biodegradable packing
	and energy absorbing refrigeration
artificial colours
	and chemical preservation

the carnivores next door
	eating their conservation

Hello Scott … I find it hard to understand how killing with bullets is a skill, but perhaps it’s different if the kill is eaten. I find wild duck shooting as unnecessary and destructive of all - thanks Scott - Lindsay

Hi, Scott, thanks for paying me a visit. I bought four books with my prize money, so thanks for reminding me of that. I need to tell the judge of that contest how I spent my gift!!

Still digesting this one. You have challenged me a bit here, though think I get it. Like your build up and writing style. Maybe too much festive food slowing me down. Can you give me summary in your reply, as I want to do justice to this well penned piece. Best regards David in NZ
