Long Summer Days

She touches you. Her warm hands caress you from head to arms. She guides you, luring you toward her full embrace. You feel her fingers beneath your clothes. Her touch invigorates. She intoxicates you with a freedom only available in her company; this day walking, brilliant, heavenly orb. Her lips brush naked skin, leaving red lip-stick smudges wherever they kiss. While her finger tips toy with your DNA.

brilliant heavenly orb
humanity seducer
dermatological destroyer

Yes memories of hot days and sultry evenings Scott, clear water over white sand footprints Dissolving, walking back through the dunes Seeing the grass become more thicker Until I am on an unbroken field of it..' I sm sure much more will come back to me Now.'

Scott, I like the last line because most of the time when we are young we don't realize that the orb is working havoc on our skin. I don't do summer heat anymore but I used to love parts of summer. I now have the visits to the dermatologist to remove cancerous and pre-cancerous places from my skin that prove how I enjoyed summer. All places have been caught in time and none that would cause a serious problem. Your visit to my page was inspiring. Sara

Alas, one always gains at the expense of something else. I tried to plead your case directly but had to look away. I'm slowly going blind anyway. An interesting perspective on our little yellow dwarf.

Wow! Scott, your poem is amazing. Great imagery. I love the twist of the sun being portrayed as a lover, seducing you out of your clothing, only to burn you with her love! The DNA reference is pure genius! Now it's my turn to say.. That last line is a stunner! :)) An awesome write.. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan
