Notes About The Poem

Written in early morning on the day my beautiful wife died peacefully, in my arms.

Star

A star has faded in the light as morning brought an end to night. Now nothing there to mark its place where it lived its life in perfect grace. And when the day turns back to night without a star to shine its light, How will the earth learn to replace the star it held in warm embrace?

So sorry for your loss, Francis. Deep thoughts you composed at a difficult time. Appropriate now to the recent passing of Debbie Reynolds and her daughter Carrie Fisher. Or more appropos to the more distant death of a saint, Mother Teresa. Congrats on your placement.
