Lies

Lies that track a lifetime,
That bend and twist the light.
Given with assurance.
Then left to taint the night.

Lies left behind to comfort,
That satisfy a selfish need.
A lesson to the faithful
Caught within unbridled greed.

Then reach out to tomorrow.
Let the shadows of today,
Stretch across the memories
Of what was yesterday.
