Dark Day in US History

Blog Posted:1/6/2021 1:02:00 PM
Dark Day in US History The story on Capital Hill rips at America's heart. What was supposed to be prefunctionary day of transfer of power has turned chaotic. Images of protestors (now described as mobs) breaching security, bypassing barricades, and marching past Capital Police to the doors of the chambers is tearful to watch. Some I hear got in. The fortuitous bounce is that there were no rogues at the rally. For on a normal day a visitor would be screened, and undergo a testing for explosives. After all the most powerful lawmakers in the world in the Senate and House are inside. Today when emotions were heightened the most, namely one side upset at losing, there were no adequate presence of screeners, security, and police. The irony many predicted this would happen, especially being amped by their leader. And yes, some protestor reached the Senate floor. My eyes swell because this is disturbing to watch. And un-American. For no other time in US History has a rally of protestors taken it this far. At 428 pm est. I'm still watching with a heavy heart and hearing stories, now, of members of Congress are in lockdown and barricaded in secret hiding places. The only rogue here is the most obvious. connie pachecho 1/06/21

They beat a cop nearly to death with a flag pole from an American flag, they pulled down the American flag from the capitol building and replaced it with a trump flag, as a vet I do not need to know anything else, no argument can repair this traitorous deed, end of story

From that storm driven dark day.~ I saw rioters chanting U-S-A, U-S-A.~ And raging, raging, having their stay.~ Like wound up robots with words to say.~ The mob-like, lapped the Capital and it's prey.~ Then raced thru the steps of Trump's relay.~ For they were under his spell and play.~ Like they were programmed to stray.~ Months of Trump's stop the steal came to a fray.~ When the mob took the Capital my heart dismay.~ It was like watching stupidity, and horror in disarray.~ For there they stood casually in foul play.~ Waving flags, cameras, and de-pricing their way.~ Yet totally oblivious of the law and mainstay.~ This day needs closure and the puppeteer has to pay.~

Like all of you, my heart is heavy with despair, shame and sadness over unforgivable violence and tragic loss of life. Yet sad to say, I almost feel trepidation posting a comment here, or any social webpage. Yes, even here, on PS, where I've been a member since 2009, (the early years). Never before have I felt that one misconstrued word, remark or even a hint of a point of view could trigger anger from someone I've never met, perhaps even hate. That is the world we live in now.Tempers are so raw, division so steeped in distrust, that it seems we have all lost sight of the common good. PS is a poetry platform that has built friendships with people from all walks of life. Let's be an example to others. Reach across the divide. Not with our own agendas, but with understanding and resolution

Having worked for one of the largest companies in the world for 30 years, Their strategy is as many others are, that profits are channelled into acquiring other companies. therefore the assumptions are in time the whole world will be reduced to only a hand full. My point is what we are experiencing now is the beginning of all of that. The Chinese would love a china world, as would the Russians. And if there is any positivity regarding covid it is that it has exposed the communist state has infiltrated so many western companies also the universities. But what is happening now in the U.S is proof of western corporate power, Trump did not act as a president, but a CEO, of a corporate America.

The America you grew up in is gone. The America of 10 years ago is gone. It’s not conservatives who changed America, not Trump voters - they are fighting to stop change. All this hatred and division comes from the Left. They control legislatures, the media, activist courts, Big Tech, Silicon Valley, Hollywood, globalists etc but they blame it all on big bad Trump. They are the ones who have changed America. And those of you who support them have only yourselves to blame.

Pardon himself for what, more trumped up charges? Putin and Jinping must be belly laughing at our so-called democracy. I do have to admit yesterday was uncalled for. I am just as disgusted as you are, but what about what has happened for over the 100 days of fires and riots which took place this past Summer they were not peaceful. That was no Summer of love. You got it all wrong Daniel, I wanted Trump to win. Though he isn't perfect, for me this wasn't about him. This was about policy. I was talking mostly about the swamp and deep state. We are all flawed, and we are all human. I believe he could choose his words a little bit more wisely. There was only 3 reasons why I voted for Trump. He's pro-life, He's pro-American, and He's pro-God.

The people should not fear the government but the government should fear the people. That is the way our constitution is set up. When the elected officials fail to enforce the constitution, it is the right (duty) of the people to see that the problem gets corrected by whatever means necessary. I think yesterday was a very bold statement.

Not just illegal aliens voted. Dead people voted, pets voted, people voted multiple times on different rolls in different states, people showed up on Election Day and told they had already voted, votes were backdated, purchased, vote counts were mysteriously stopped then huge mathematically impossible dumps for one candidate added, poll watchers denied access, phantom ‘glitches’ that only robbed Trump votes, vote machines that can be easily manipulated etc. In Pennsylvania alone 200,000 more ballots were counted than actual voters that voted.

I do want a fair election, and that is what we got on Nov. 3, Trump and his lawyers filed several claims in many courts across the country, and all their claims were dismissed, that tells me that they had no evidence to prove there was fraud in this election. Our government is run the corporations who fund the campaigns of corrupt politicians..

A CITIZEN"S right to vote is guaranteed by the 15th amendment. It is the duty of the government to make sure all elections are fair and TRANSPARENT. This was the first election in my lifetime where states changed their voting laws right before an election. Doesn't that seem a little shady to you? Regardless of the candidates, don't you as an American citizen want fair elections? Does it not bother you that perhaps illegal immigrants were allowed to vote, a right only given to American citizens? It damn sure bothers me. If we are going to start letting people other than our citizens vote, next election let's just let the whole world vote for our next President. Let's see how that works. out. Our government hasn't been "for the people" in decades. It's been "for the party" which leaves me personally disgusted.

It’s clear the constitution is a meaningless document and the Supreme Court unwilling to do their job. Treasonous and corrupt criminal acts go unpunished by the swamp and its media cheerleaders. When that happens anarchy rules. I foresee a new dark age in America.

I prefer to think of the constitution as a living document that changes to suit the times as the amendments show...the thirteenth amendment was added and slavery was purged and now we need one to purge special interests funding campaigns...and media need to give all reps equal air time and 'cheap' fees to do so just like when we get called to do jury duty for a pittance...

um the last four years were Trump's...I'm an independent by the way... unfortunately for the likes of us, there are only two dominating parties and both have corporations waging their bets...lol! Twitter?! That's Trumps' forte lolol! and before he got elected, he was a media wanna-be star firing people left and right and proud of it...his moral compass was way off the charts and last I checked, he was leader for the last four years...or was it Biden pulling his puppet strings? You're not making sense...

The difference between Trump and Biden voters is stark. If the shoe was on the other foot and Democrats thought the election was rigged, what happened in Washington would be taking place all across the country. They’d be rioting and looting coast to coast and all with the media’s and Twitter’s blessing. So don’t lecture me on the moral compass of the nation. We’ve witnessed the moral compass of the left for the last four years.

All places have problems with homelessness esp. large cities because of costs which are driven up by capitalistic principles...just wait when those red cities take on the corporations that only want to make the maximum profits and are moving out because they want more and don't care now they've made enough to move to someplace 'cheaper'...Trump knows about this - exploit, declare bankruptcy, move on... regulations are a way of protection and some tend to go overboard but if you don't bother at all, then more people and environments suffer.. the democratic cities attract the homeless cos they are the kindest to them; solutions will come from change, diversity, and mercy :)

You live in California so you wouldn’t know any better. The most taxed and regulated state in the country, highest energy costs. LA and San Francisco have become homeless drug infested slums because of Democrats. Business owners are leaving in droves for red states. Same in New York. You have a huge military and police yet you allow thugs and criminals to burn and destroy cities (democratic cities) over a media beat-up. Move on...I don’t think so. Things are gonna get nasty.

Keith foreseeing a 'dark age' - the doom's day call is so old! Corruption will always exist but the difference is it will get exposed these days far easier than in the good old days when most were uneducated...we are all subject to government and media but we have our moral compasses too and that is our humanity! It points to good most times and we need to trust in that. As to communism taking over? If USSR broke down, how in the world is it going to resurrect? The Chinese and Russians love profit and free market as much as Americans now and are never going back. Anarchy?! Good grief - we have a huge military and police force which we the people have to support with taxes - a form of socialism :) Trump had a go and lost. Let's move on!

Edward, there are things being kept from us by a media that does not support real truth. Read what Word Hobo said above. He is a very knowledgeable person i have gotten to know here at Soup. There are many things I have come to realize since Covid was unleashed on this world. I respect everyone's right to their own opinions, but sadly, I see anarchy and/or communism heading to my shores. Fact checkers now check as false some things that I know absolutely to be the truth (the internet is being monitored and good people are being ousted from youtube for speaking their truths). The media spews lies to spread its sick propaganda, and "conquer and divide" is the war cry. Very sad times are upon us.

I respectfully disagree with you, Andrea. Unless my eyes totally deceived me, I saw no proof those insurrectionists were ANTIFA members. This is a GOP talking point. I saw with my own eyes they were Trump supporters carrying flags such as "Trump 2020", "Gun Owners For Trump", etc. I don't see Antifa peacefully co-existing with Trump supporters, which include Proud Boys. Things probably would've turned out differently had Antifa showed up--violent clashes within the crowd itself. Now, I'm no fan of Antifa, I also consider them a violent extremist group--but I find it hard to believe they'd masquerade as Trump supporters.

I tend to side with you and Daniel. We are in very dark times of abounding corruption and the media can't be trusted to tell the truth. I do not like Trump, but at the same time, I support people's rights to protest. it's possible ANTIFA were the ones who did the real damage on the 6th, but you won't see that in the corrupt media. ANTIFA's job seems to be to cause chaos. How did they get such easy access to the Congress building? Something very fishy going on. People who were there AT the protest are speaking out about how they did not know the ones going into the building. they were crying out against the ones "storming" the building. I pray one day the truth will be known.

That mob of people you are referring to have sat back and watched the real mobs and the party that supports them burning and looting for 6 months over a hoax so don’t lecture true patriots for finally venting their anger. I’d be angry to if my vote was stolen from me. The election was a rort. The evidence of widespread voter fraud is obvious and alarming. Even Mexico has far safer electoral protections than the US.
