Dark Day in US History The story on Capital Hill rips at America's heart. What was supposed to be prefunctionary day of transfer of power has turned chaotic. Images of protestors (now described as mobs) breaching security, bypassing barricades, and marching past Capital Police to the doors of the chambers is tearful to watch. Some I hear got in. The fortuitous bounce is that there were no rogues at the rally. For on a normal day a visitor would be screened, and undergo a testing for explosives. After all the most powerful lawmakers in the world in the Senate and House are inside. Today when emotions were heightened the most, namely one side upset at losing, there were no adequate presence of screeners, security, and police. The irony many predicted this would happen, especially being amped by their leader. And yes, some protestor reached the Senate floor. My eyes swell because this is disturbing to watch. And un-American. For no other time in US History has a rally of protestors taken it this far. At 428 pm est. I'm still watching with a heavy heart and hearing stories, now, of members of Congress are in lockdown and barricaded in secret hiding places. Connie Pachecho Date: 1/19/2021 10:58:00 AM From that storm driven dark day.~ I saw rioters chanting U-S-A, U-S-A.~ And raging, raging, having their stay.~ Like wound up robots with words to say.~ The mob-like, lapped the Capital and it's prey.~ Then raced thru the steps of Trump's relay.~ For they were under his spell and play.~ Like they were programmed to stray.~ Months of Trump's stop the steal came to a fray.~ When the mob took the Capital my heart dismay.~ It was like watching stupidity, and horror in disarray.~ For there they stood casually in foul play.~ Waving flags, cameras, and de-pricing their way.~ Yet totally oblivious of the law and mainstay.~ This day needs closure and the puppeteer has to pay.~ Login to Reply

Yet sad to say, I almost feel trepidation posting a comment here, or any social webpage. Yes, even here, on PS, where I've been a member since 2009, (the early years). Never before have I felt that one misconstrued word, remark or even a hint of a point of view could trigger anger from someone I've never met, perhaps even hate. That is the world we live in now.Tempers are so raw, division so steeped in distrust, that it seems we have all lost sight of the common good. My point is what we are experiencing now is the beginning of all of that. The Chinese would love a china world, as would the Russians. When the elected officials fail to enforce the constitution, it is the right (duty) of the people to see that the problem gets corrected by whatever means necessary. It is the duty of the government to make sure all elections are fair and TRANSPARENT. This was the first election in my lifetime where states changed their voting laws right before an election. Doesn't that seem a little shady to you? Regardless of the candidates, don't you as an American citizen want fair elections? Does it not bother you that perhaps illegal immigrants were allowed to vote, a right only given to American citizens? It damn sure bothers me.
