Memorial Day

Memorial Day To the many soldiers that fought for our freedoms With arms and feet, pride and spirit Marching in harmony Marching with conviction Marching where ever you were sent Across the border, across the sea A cross to bear, a flag to hold high A homeland, country, and people to save You never questioned why You followed your commands But mostly your hearts ... In the face of peace You faced the darkness The betrayal, the enemy ... and the eyes of the devil But you held your ground for the more significant cause ... Us Some of you made it back Some did not Some were fresh out of high school And put their country first And their future second Yet all had one thing in common Bravery and unfortunately for some ... sacrifice You took the baton from all the soldiers that fought And spilled and left their blood on all the battlefields From the Civil War, and regretfully on and on ... for us Without these brave soldiers, and men ... you ... we would have lost And our flag replaced And God forbid our lives uprooted Yes, tearfully a horrifying thought to think As I reflect on this day And watch the newscast honoring the fallen men ... you My eyes do tear for you And my heart salutes you, the brave men and soldiers Including our allies That fought for our freedom And our nestled way of life Thank you, sincerely connie pachecho 5/28/23
