I am still reeling with the news that Chan Dale Hurst, our Just that Archaic Poet, has passed away.
I’ve been reading old mail from him and reading his poems and I cannot accept that this man who lived life so LARGE, is gone.
Chan’s words to me: "I feel like I have a new lease of life. I have a million things to do,..."
TOO SOON. He is gone TOO SOON!!!
This is not a contest.
This is a Memorial Tribute for a good friend who wore his heart on the outside. He lived without filters... loved that way, too.
Please write a new poem that incorporates all of the twelve words below. All twelve.
All those who use the twelve words (which apply to Chan in some way – from poems or from his life) will receive a first place.
Any style, any form that will fit all the words – feel free to rhyme as Chan LOVED rhyme. Stay true to YOUR style. Chan would expect no less from YOU. Free verse welcome, too!
GO WILD – Make him proud! Hold nothing back, go where you want, be original or funny, be sad and courageous....
THESE TWELVE WORDS MUST BE IN YOUR POEM (any order):
Euphoric
Star Wars (used together-- counts as one word)
Tolkien
Guitar
Pentagram
Optical
Artistry
Brother
Torch
Alive
Rhymer
Geek
I am soo sad... I do not know if this will help.
But it is a start.
And I think he’d like this... I think this would have made him laugh and cry...
LET'S DO THIS FOR HIM!!!! LET'S SHAKE THE STARS!!!
Life and friendship is sacred.
Even though we are grieving,
please remember how GOOD life is!
Chan would want that!!
