Listen to poem:

Softly

Gentle the touch of smooth brushing kisses
Softly I'll come to you, Softly I will
Tender the night of eye's hungered wishes
Calm are the hearts beating faster still
Warm is the breath that caresses the spaces
When love is the spring of time's winding clock
Tremors from fingers that leave trailed traces
Gives patience a key that opens love's lock
Lost in the moment where melding is King
Traveling in sync from rushes within
Paradise is found in flights without wing
Sacred, vulnerable rejoicing in

Time is in motion and time will stand still
Softly I'll come to you, Softly I will

This is the first poem I posted on poetry soup
it's now the first I've done with audio

WOW! I definitely would think this would have earned a top placement! Such a gorgeous sonnet (shhhhh... I'm still a sucker for traditional sonnets as much as I crow about contemporary ones. Haha, don't let on. Got to keep up the 'pirate' image.) Your reading matches the poem, too. Was it this long ago? Last spring? I gotta check when I wrote mine. I've deleted almost all my poems from soup. Just a few left... Anyways, glad I read this, again!! Hugs to you Chum

Great voice for poetry, Frederic! Your pace and meter as you read is just right, with the contemplative pauses needed to take the words all in...nice job! :)

WOW! Lovely sonnet and your voice! Frederic, you rocked the audio. Wonderful reading! I love the repetition. So often we are told to avoid the adverb, drop the "LY" from our verses and here you used it so well... I'm faving this. Why, you are quite the charmer... if I could choose a male voice to read my work? You'd be it! :D
