My November Challenge: An Ode to ______________(ONE STANZA ONLY) Poetry Contest
Andrea Dietrich-11/8/25
My chocolate brown eyes wave,
through the windows of the world,
friendly and homely,
an open book of mysteries,
forever unsolved and puzzling.
Eyes are like a German Shepherd's,
soulful and loyal,
tender and sweet.
Yet there’s no sugar coating.
Oh chocolate, oh chocolate
You have such a heavenly smell.
You have put me under your spell.
Oh chocolate, oh chocolate
You look like a delicate bar of love.
You are like an angel sent from above.
Oh chocolate, oh chocolate
I can hear you calling my name.
You belong in the hall of fame.
Oh chocolate, oh chocolate
Your taste is out of this world,
Rather you're dark, white, or swirled.
Oh chocolate, oh chocolate
You will never have to compete,
Because you will always be my favorite treat.
Aurora.
The night made a celestial event,
The ciel shimmering into millions particles of stardust,
Ice reminiscing it’s marvellous creations ,
The exquisite green-blue-pink rainbow glory hovering the borealis,
The only thing that stops heart at first sight: Aurora Borealis.
Yay! Puddles!
Splish! Splash! Splish!
Wonderful Puddles!
You fill this rainy day with fun!
Thanks for always being there,
Right at the end of the driveway!
Although Mom might not like you,
I always will!
Because once my spashing is done,
I get hot chocolate!
Wonderful Hot Chocolate!
Ode to Bob
My little bird,
that bites,
hard.
How I love thee,
anyway.
You make me laugh,
and cry,
and believe
that all things
are exactly…
what God made them to be.
Sometimes you hide,
and it drives me crazy.
I should keep you in your cage.
But how would that be fun?
How would that let you,
be you?
You do not talk.
You make fun of my efforts.
Instead you cough,
when I am sick…
You mimic and make fun,
but you
are exactly…
what God made you to be,
for me.
Sometimes,
you hang from the high bar,
there is a bell,
you ring and ring.
You wait to make sure,
I am asleep.
The song is silent,
the bell is not.
Your intent loud;
be cheerful,
you are…
exactly…
what God
made you to be,
for me.
To chocolate I pay my respects
Some folks say its better than sex
whether milk dark or white
Ev’ry bar I must bite
or I'll get a lack of choccy complex
I NEED chocolate it’s an unwritten rule
I'm a woman not a blithering fool
Give me a constant supply
On days that end with a Y
when choc’s smeared round my mouth it looks cool
Most women love something that’s sweet
And chocolate it cannot be beat
Deny them and they’ll pout
Choc is all they think about
Many men think it's all that they'll eat.

I like to eat curry
It's funny in my tummy
But then I turn really smelly!
Here I have a chocolate meditation,
Writing an ode for edification,
What is a chocolate meditation?
It is packet of Tim Tams, in Oz nation,
Let's hear it for Oz Tim Tams,
From an Australian native chocolate plant,
Thence to an endless dish,
Of chocolate biscuits, utter bliss,
No afternoon tea is complete,
For the last Tim Tam we do complete,
Giggling gerties, one and all,
Chicks can hide them in their holdalls,
Without Tim Tams, housework is incomplete,
Must keep our ample figures neat!
I've heard they're unique to Oz nation,
Tim Tams, total chocolate meditation!
Chocolate, you are creamy and delicious.
You are a wonderful treat.
I love to eat you after I eat
or as a snack.
Chocolate, you can come in a bar.
You can be filled with caramel,
or cream.
You are smooth and milky,
hard and dark.
You are always delicious.
You are my favorite treat.

Deliciously inviting
Tempting to my tongue
Silky chocolate velvet
Whether milk or dark
Candy, cocoa too-
Melts in mouth
~ Mmmmm! ~
