As we lay prostrate
Tabula rasa-blank page
Word play we engage

Sleight of hand we write
Together with tongue magic
Comic and tragic

Poetic dual
Like the bards of Vienna
We've burnt sienna

We foster and play
With our words and our phrasing
Not mean, not praising

We engage with rhyme
Each other's druthers, "Respect!"
To urge, not neglect

Sometimes we flirt and
Sometimes we fling dirt, but me
Cajolery, you

Sully the bully
Flatter, not as indicters
We are cowriters

So in this haiku
I don't offer you some prose
But hand you a rose

“Dead leaves do not cease to exist. They live in another form, may be as nutrient to quicken another life. That way, every death is a doorway to another life”. ~ By Poet

Last leaves of the ancient maple, yellowed and frayed,
Fluttering and dancing silently in mellowed stillness,
Nose dived into the burnt sienna ground below,
To become fodder for the saplings of spring.

When I saw her eyes were burnt sienna,
and her lips were purple plaid,
when she said she wasn’t my kid’s teacher,
boy, was I ever sad.

Premium Member discoloured palette

cyan blues indigo into nighttime
darkness scorches the soul to the core
hellfire’s charcoal embers
dissipate lightness of being
achromatic void
engulfs a self-fulfilling promise

rose petals wither by the wayside
trudged and treaded upon
flame red converts to burnt sienna
a mere shadow dances in the heat

hunter green pastels fade in exhaustion
an emerald pendant strings
a chafed neck in a choking embrace

mustard gold’s alchemy
folds citric sunflowers
away from its rainbow
where a pot of tar
repeats the circular path

suave mauve corrodes
into rust and necessity’s must
clusters indecision
and meaningless desire

the prism yields prison
and yet all colours
would merge into white
when the pail becomes
half full once again
and chakras confide
to the canvass
and the portrait of truth

The soft yellow streaked the terra cotta, shadowing the speckled sallow saffron
a bluish buff upon the cochineal;brilliant boneblack grizzled the engrain
citrine carnation as the fallow flaxen, rustic rubrical rainbow-tinted
the magenta mandarine;unseen the ultra-marine, tinged burnt sienna,
reflecting a golden flame of raw umbery upon the earth green;bright mosaic gold
mottled the sallow sorrel virent yellow, oak stained the pale apricot;while
blood red, reddish russetdotted the olive lind;freckled crimson,a chestnut maroon,
on fuchsias faded apple green as burnt rumber sank deep into its sanguine slumber.

This a favourite poem because it combines my two hobbies art and poetry

Oceans - of Thought

| Oceans - Of Thought |

Harmonised hypothermia sets
through the darkened depth
of the chasm deep,
Like a heavy-weighted wreck
of my linguistic mind.
As blithe planulae float
amongst the turquoise torrents
of the surging tides.
Efflux my porous skin
that secretes the bitter brine,
Void of lust, my halitous breath.

When will I find the courage
that guillotine faith;
cut across these saline soothing shores
That reflects like crystalline glass,
that rips and takes.
But, incompetent to see more;
the calm of the sea.

But under tide
the waves topple above
like whitewash remembrances
Beckoning me to emerge and find,
Flavours of youth
in the lull of the sea
So I begin searching of forever freedoms
in the caress of the breeze.

I say my adieu to the abyss-abundant sea
My love for the ocean;
Is a coral of burnt sienna,
tipped with lanvanda,
and blushing pinks.
The azure's solvent divinity
has annihilated fear
Like an oakum of my sanity
My mind finally carefree.
