Dear Poets & friends............

Some poets forget we have very very young teens on the soup.

I'm sorry to say, I have a poet friend who's only 12. ((I have many teen poet friends))

But, this boy had send me some soupmail late yesterday. With his feelings hurt. :-(

I'm the kind of poet who loves giving positive feedback... Even if it means giving the negative first, then I fill the rest of the comment with positivity that will encourage the poet to go on. ..

Many times younger poets will search for me, because I pay attention and will offer them support through and through. Sometimes, I see lots of no' no's, but I will keep it to myself. Because “I” out of everyone knows how it feels to have, someone crush my writing spirit. Well I do not want to be the cause of a hurting the writes of a young teen. I do not want to be the cause of any young soup child’s discouragement.

If I see a serious typo, I will approach my young friends through soup mail. ? How do I approach the matter? Let us say the poet misspelled the word. "Sanity" with (sanaty)... All I will do is simply ask, if that is the cool new way how a teen spells Sanity. And that I love it...

I will get lots of funny feedback from these teens. ... She/he smiles, I smile, we are all happy.

Okay, but when a young poet sends me soup mail, telling me one of the other poets whom does not even read his work. Send him some hurtful soup-mail, about his writing. In which his feelings were crushed not encouraged. ””That really chapped my hide.””

I'm like wait a minute!!! This Ogre (poet) is the same one who simply loves pointing out at one's simple mistake to make him or herself’ seem so highly educated. ((Whatever makes your boat float you old goats)?)

Let me tell these educated poets whom believe their poop don’t stink!! Does it make you feel good to hurt the little poets from the soup? Degrading others because you think you are a know it all? How long have you been eating poop for breakfast?

You are no one, and your class and choice of work has no taste...

I'd rather read the raw and real poetry with flaws then read your work....

I love the real spoken work from the inner heart. I’d rather read “Roses are red” over your grammar book look poems or writing scholarships I know it all crap. None of your work will ever come close to my taste buds nor will it be better than the real poetry others write with integrity. ((with or without no no’s))

Anyway~

This does not go out to everyone good helping poet. If you only knew how many coldheart poets we have on this site….

Maybe you’re only on here, because nothing moves around you everything is dead inside of you. You log on to the soup, because we are the only moving objects in your life. The only way you can feel like someone is by pretending, you are smarter than a 5 th grader. I’m glad you have nothing better to do, then pick on others to make yourself seem smart as dirt and a God in your own pathetic life… phooey, duh.. duh… and triple duh….

Come pick on my grammar,, if you dare….leave the teenagers from the soup alone….. You golden he/she Billy Goat…Get A Life…

This is a very good sharing in your blog my dear sis PD which I've missed the passed few days. I'm so sorry if i came late here. I strongly agree with you my sis. And for me, since I'm dealing with young minds everyday and so as to encourage them, I always hold/adhere on to a saying from an unknown author, "Appreciation is the heart's memory'. Poet Destroyer. There is nothing wrong with noting a person's mistakes in a private and constructive way. Any poet SHOULD want this (especially a young poet). Sending Soup Mail is the BEST way to do this because it is private communication. Soupers follow PoetrySoup rules, not the rules of individual poets. As long as the criticism is private, constructive, and done in a nice way, it is welcomed on the Soup!!!

well soup.... if you read the blog... the young poet was hurt by the way this one certain poet approached the matter. This young poet was not approached in a nice way.... We all agree with poets offering help.. but, come on do it in a nice and professional way if you are gonna take part in helping someone...

P.D. You are writing what myself and others are thinking. To be honest I wouldnt know the age group of some of the poets. I wouldnt dream of leaving a negative comment. You know the old adage, if you cant say/write something good about a person dont say/do anything at all. In future will keep a look out for the younger element and read thir work....Seren

PD, though I love good grammar, I doubt it was me. I don't even pay attention to grammar mistakes on here any more unless it's in how I place my contest winners or it involves someone I know really well and they are someone I know would appreciate my feedback. I think it is not difficult to tell when it's a younger person writing. I know I have commented to a few young poets in the past, but if there are some right now that I am commenting to, I am not aware of it. Maybe you could spotlight one of them someday! that's too bad if anyone has been too critical of a really young poet. It's hard enough for older poets to take criticism but it would be very hard on someone just starting out!
