Oh daddy:
You look better now, so calm, so composed
Your face appears heartier, healthier now
not pale, jerking, twisted and twitching
a shriveled, shell of a man I once knew
Your mouth is silent, sealed, sewn shut
that mouth that bantered and babbled
fussed, fumed, moaned and muttered
involuntary and comatose nonsense...
Dressed in your officers’s uniform
with all those ribbons and medals
with all those shiny gold buttons
those gold buttons I am tracing
tracing down with my fingers
tugging gently on each one
as if to draw you closer
closer so I say to you
all that is left unsaid
to hear you say
all the things
left unsaid

This is quite personal and expressive, Tim. There is a lot that has not been said, from both sides of the fence; now too late, although some things are better not said at all. #7 All the best. // paul
