Daddy

Daddy Daddy, why did you go away? Don't you know I wanted you to stay! Daddy, when you left mom, Don't you know you left me too? Now all I do is cry and cry --- I want to die! Daddy, mommy say's it's better this way, What does she know! They're not enough band-aids to cover up the blues Mom's kisses can't heal this kind of pain. Daddy, I look around No one stands in your garage Daddy, You took every tool Except the hammer and sitting stool Daddy, I still miss you --- I love you. *** Dear Daddy, I'm all grown up now Haven't seen you since I was 10 Daddy, I sit on your favorite chair, No longer do I miss the way you caressed my hair. Daddy, I'm taking the old hammer and this BRAND NEW saw, It's time to patch all the holes mom punched in the wall *The day you walked out on us* Daddy, don't worry about the times I tripped and fell Mom found someone to fix the loose boards, Got tired of scraping my knees Daddy, I finally realized I'm okay, I agree with mom, it's better this way. by- Not every dad is great (but step-dad YES!)

Strong emotional memories. My dad left me before i was a child. The effects on me were very mild. Your pain was harsher than mine. I am very emotional about the dad i never knew now that i have children of my own. great poem

This is a sad yet triumphant piece, demonstrating the resilience of the human spirit. If this is your personal experience I am so sorry for the loss of such an important relationship.

The hardest part of not knowing is the not knowing. Whatever happens it build you into the person that you are, I've regretted how my parents handle their lives, then realizing it was their issues not mine, I am sorry to hear your broken home, but I hope your heart is stronger and no longer broken, hugs

Great poem, one that reveals the hurt and pain innocent children suffer when parents part. Been there myself only daughter stayed with me refusing to live with her Mom. So sad our daughter had to choose but yes it was better that way! ADDED TO MY FAV...Because it touches my heart too.

Great poem. Children suffer in as many ways as there are children affected. Then they grow up adapting, but with one leg always a little shorter than the other. You expressed it so well.
