Walk The Line Poems | Examples

Walk Over The Line

Here's to the one's
Who play the part
With a smiling face
But an aching heart

Who ride the wave
But all the while
They hide the pain
Behind a smile

This is to those
Who face the rain
When the tide is high
The days are gray

Who walk the line
To pave the way
To a better life
And brighter day.

False Marriages

I've never been married but I'm a spouse as I'm
partnered with the spirit
These false marriages are underhanded so pay
close attention to discern it
Some things attach because they're desperate to live
through you & what you have
If you look closely it's not adding up but yet & still
it's about the math
Sadly this is where we're at after all the places we could
& should have been
We're engaged in battles without our knowledge but
the truth always fights to win
These soul ties are bound to happen & sometimes the
binds expose their flaws
Before you know it you're caught in the current being
swept away by natural law
Sometimes contracts are signed with disregard to what's
best for you & your inner self
Always take stock before you invest as it will affect your
inner wealth
They move with stealth to throw you off but keep your
balance & walk the line
Beware of false marriages as they cross boundaries as
well as spiritual & legal lines
Some bear false witness telling lies but this was always
how it would go
Eventually the masks will slip to expose the face that
was always meant to show

In twilight's embrace, a world serene,
Where whispers dance, a soft ballet,
Beneath the stars' celestial sheen,
A tapestry of dreams to lay,
With hushed embrace, two souls entwine.

The moon's glow weaves a silver thread,
A love unspoken, hearts aglow,
Through valleys deep and mountains spread,
In every step, their bond will grow,
Two spirits bound, forever bind.

Across the ocean's gentle foam,
Their spirits soar, no bounds can tame,
Through tempest's roar, they find their home,
An eternal flame, unending flame,
In unity, their hearts combine.

In twilight's embrace, a world serene,
A symphony of life's embrace,
Through trials faced and battles keen,
They will stand as one, unyielding grace,
Their love's embrace, a sacred sign.

A journey shared, they will walk the line,
With hope in hand, they will face the dawn.

On the Line

May the path that I seek always keep me unclean
Walk the line in my bare feet, tied to a tree
You left with a breath in the winter you left
The pressure from your lips is all that I kept

You would’ve loved the lakeside sunrise today
The wind gently sweeping the emptiness away
I’m listening to nahko and the words that we know
The songs that once blessed the cold, mountain snow

The aimless journeys through the high rocky roads
No curves in your frame for the bends in the road
Weighed by the consciousness trapped in your view
Lifted by the days shared between me and you

I would sacrifice my life for another road to nowhere
Heading west on I-70 is the best it could ever be
Sobering conversations and transgressions forgiven
With pictures never taken and words left unspoken

I step on your line as the wind carries me through
As I sway side to side, I feel weightless and new
I can leave your remains on a Sunday by the Sea
For every time I walk the line, I’ll carry you with me

Balance Beam

There it is
Hard steel
Lined in felt
Walk the line
Toe to heel
Cards dealt
...hmm

Movement limited
Agility required
Success after failure
Repetition inspired
...hmpf

Music added
Flowing vibration
Fear dissipated
Leaping without hesitation
...triUMPH

Flooring preferred
Elevation elation
Not required
No name
No fame
Heart fired

Bridge of Freedom

I see the bridge to freedom pine,
it longs to see me cross it's twine.
It's knotted roots, it's timber spine,
urging me to walk the line.

Confession

Dark tombs don't scare me now,
Dark nights are sweetest too...
Darling what worth is life
If I'm not loved by you?

If death is such a sleep
As verses use to say,
Tell death I want to play
My part of it today.

I tried to love again
But failed to walk the line;
I carved my darling's name
Into this heart of mine.

Sweet lovers come and go
That I never satisfy...
I always seek for love,
Yet love just pass me by.

The one I loved didn't stay,
It never felt too fair,
But yet I always run
From girls who truly care.

Whenever that I fall
And try to walk the line;
I feel this engraved love
Into this heart of mine!

The Time Between the Seasons For Contest

Blank space, white noise
Miles of useless matter
Hours, days, and years
Filled with futile chatter

Boxed memories
Disregarded
Neglected roots
Where you started

‘‘Twas familiar
Some moons ago
Where you once dwelled
Yet failed to grow

Just fillers of space
And thieves of time
That were required
To walk the line

Before and after
The in between
Season fracture
Remains unseen

The Line of a Delicate Being

I walk the line of a delicate being
careful to not make a misstep and fall
Though I am fragile, my strength underwrites me
and I am able to withstand it all

I can be nothing that I think I can’t be
so I decided that I can be me
And now I find that my life has true meaning
and life allows me to stand tall and free

Though I can not claim a profile in courage
I find a way to go on unafraid
Sometimes, I wonder when I’m feeling beaten
how I can do it, it’s just how I’m made

In my reflection, I like what I’m seeing
though it took time to erase many tears
I walk the line of a delicate being
yet one who’s lived and survived many years

Looking Back

The past is a foreign homeland,
 familiar yet strange

Where memories limits walk the line,
and crossed—exceed our range

(St. David’s Pennsylvania: April, 2021)

Codependency

Her logic binds with golden ties and strands of silken thought
her elocution sparkles, it's a skill she has been taught.
Her lies are better than the truth, a drug that dulls defenses,
And I give up my reason to explosions of the senses.

Why, oh why, has she decided she should be my muse?
A toy of easily molded clay detained for her abuse.
Her eyes are fire, hold her gaze, you do it at your peril.
it only takes a glance to see how wild she is, quite feral.

Deceit is taught in many forms and she deploys them all
walk the line, a slackened rope, and teeter 'fore the fall.
Why have I been cursed you ask, and I can hardly say.
The truth is that I wouldn't want it any other way.

I Promise

Rest in peace my friend, know that this is not the end
As we say goodbye to you I hope to god you knew
This pain won’t mend

Follow my voice, into the dark
I promise, I hear, the voice I once knew
Follow my voice, into the dark
I promise, I hear, the voice I once knew

Shadow I see you, you’ve got a face I recognise
Now I'm questioning myself, as to whether all I’ve seen here is real, or is it a lie?
I’m fine, I swear I’m fine, I’ll walk the line, now that I've seen you rise

Silence, this is all we’ll know
I’ve seen a version of how it has to go
Silence, you’re not alone
Into the light, unknown

You’ve the lost will, it's over now
How can we live through this hell?
You’ve the lost will, it's over now
How can we live through this hell?

So let your spirit rise, surrounded in light
And even though your body will die
In our minds you’re always alive
So let your spirit rise, surrounded in light
And even though your body will die
In our minds you’re always alive

Rest in peace my friend, know that this is not the end
As we say goodbye to you I hope to god you knew
This pain won’t mend

Let Me Cry

I dreamt last night
a dream of memories once shared
 now lost to time's despair.
An anniversary passes
and the date burns in my heart
as if the years never depart.
Should you still think of me
 remember what bound us together
held us inseparable in all weather.
Others forget the loss
they say time heals all wounds
but only in tears am I consumed.

A picture brings back your smile
 untouched by age and time
but alone, I still walk the line.
The love we had paired
in familiar places bring no pleasure
and heartache is all I am left to measure,
It is an aching pain un-quenched
within my soul treasured and spent
from this love that dies, release me,
let me cry.

I Swear To Lie

I swear to lie.

To you I’ll make no promises
And I swear I will tell no lie.
As I place my hand on Gideon’s Bible,
I still fake truly showing you what I hold inside.

For you I’ll wear no wedding ring
And for you I’ll walk the line;
But for you I will never go missing,
Because I would find you every time.

Premium Member The 40 Year Plan

Here are the lyrics:

Got a dream that seems so far
With just himself and an old guitar
Taking a ride to a roadside bar
Plugging in to be a big big star.
Chorus
Just a young man and a 40 year plan
And workin that plan day and night
Cause a wife and child wont let him be wild
Got his whole damn life on the line
But dont cry for this man
He's making his stand
Cause the 40 year plan is goddammed lie

Ain't looking to rob no one
But been working two jobs son
Ain't enough week left at the end of the money
Man he's laughing but it ain't funny
When you're working a 40 year plan

Bossman calling at 5am
Gotta find them keys man
Little one's sleeping all upside down
Old lady passed out from a night on the town
She's working the 40 year plan

Got home just a little late
Trooper pulled over on the interstate
Talking bout smelling some beer or some moonshine,
Step out biy and walk the line
Cause I'm working my own 40 year plan

But tonight's a big shot
Give it all that he's got
Put a tear in aone young girl's eye
Break out of the plan this time
