Premium MemberOde To The Bin That Betrayed Me

In moonlight's hush, beneath the elm,
A masked marauder stalks his realm.
With paws like whispers, eyes like coal,
He seeks the prize that fills his soul.

But lo! The bin—his ancient foe—
Stands smug, unyielding, sealed in woe.
Its lid, a tyrant, cold and tight,
Dares mock his hunger in the night.

"Have you forgotten?" he snarls with grace,
"The feast we shared, the sacred place?
You fed me once, you knew my name,
Now plastic locks deny my claim."

He leaps! He claws! A ballet grim,
A pirouette on garbage rim.
Banana peels and coffee grounds
Rain down like war drums' hollow sounds.

Neighbors wake to chaos born,
A furry tempest, rage and scorn.
Yet in his heart, a deeper ache—
Not trash, but trust, was theirs to break.

So if you see him, tail askew,
A poet wrapped in dumpster dew,
Know vengeance drives his nightly plan—
The raccoon scorned by a trash can.

To the War Veterans

Sirs, my hands are aloft in greetings
I salute you
My legs are together in attention
I hail you
My hat is off my head
I revere you
I thank you with the two greatest things I have:
My heart and my soul
Like the aggressor who lacked the edge to wear you down,
I lack the words to say thank you.
My heart and soul which you have touched so dearly
Do so for me.

Anuruedoahu

In Biafra, when we drank from the tilting
cusps of dank leaves and washed with the spittle
of cassava,
the sun scorched like hell.

Añuruedoahu*, the oasis of war, like worldly
cowrie, stagnant, yet devoid of rural fetish,
calmed our nerves and built in the altar of
our souls hopes of answered prayers.

*A mysterious stream in the poet's village.

Wars Folly

Since you are there and I am here,
have yourself an ice-cold beer.
Raise your glass and sing with cheer,
for all you love is standing near.

This is not the way for me,
I’m on a deck across the sea.
The rolling deck as engines roar,
as in the sky fighter’s soar.

Barely adult’s young soldiers die,
as their loved ones at home cry.
On the land the sea or air,
loved one’s bleeding over there.

With hat in hand their families wait,
for soldiers to come home they anticipate.
The touch of their skin and smiling eyes,
to give hope to their heart and spirits rise.

This is not for all that go,
say the crosses row on row.
For at the point of a gun,
dreams are destroyed and come undone.

Hundreds dead or maimed for life,
filled with sorrow, pain, and strife.
Their mothers look at us and say,
why do our children have to pay?

It matters not to them we won,
their lives are shattered and undone.

Ode to the weird world especially something bruting

May I reverse the gnaiwu let say
of a vile so far sinistered.
  You see what is wonderful
and was eating deep into this heart- I meant that might
have been so intrigueing and triggering and bridging
    worning out of a thing.
Who for so long is bearing pain
tell various stories and damn fishery kind.
If I fold off my hands
    anyhow war I fear
if I keep quiet the depression
and sadness of opposite type gla
I fear since of course the rule is now being broken?.

Ode to peace

And if people will ask me why
    are you so worried about
peace and yet most when writing you
    interchange war for peace
and peace for war or you
    rarely favour such a one
     warring state against it's
    a kind of sistering peaceful
     blossoming cheerness for instance?.
I will reply the world even though
fresh and tender like a piece
of land to be tamed or a farm
     produce for a second stage
of production or like a company's lab?.
Is a kind of scenario or scene we sometimes see
   on books or something.
Ah I fear if the world in
     the first place is an
    opportunity and tomorrow is
    an opposition swans?.

Ode to evil war

What if the heart of man
     admitts only something
inherent like light like logic or
    nature or a kind lovely
      better of?.
You see we take care not to
     confuse well being for
     peace or business for economy
   or being dying for revitalization
or rodenty for let say bee or sun or corn or fish.
    Yes?, because we wore uniform
that time in the school doesn't
in any case meant the country is almost acquainted
with killings killings and a through murder familiarity
or for goodness sake howsoever mocking
     is modernism?.
 Assuming weapon is a suggestion
now, is man not a fragile glass?.

An Ode to Love

An Ode to Love

(A lone voice whispers)

Is Love
Like one

Finding a South Philippine Dwarf Kingfisher

One of the World's
Rarest birds

A much-welcome visitor
To see and treasure
Sunbathing in the sun

Or two
Does it sometimes
Fly high

Like an extraordinary Golden Eagle

Over all emotional
Physical or Spiritual
Battlefields

As it goes-to-war

With family
Friends
Religion or politics

For true love never
Yields

Or three
is it just like a form of
Fast Love

That just runs
Jumps out the door and hits the road

Looking for a new lascivious episode

After its heavy load
Explodes
When it's had its fun

And finally,
Which one have you experienced

Did love find you or betray you

Like Judas Iscariot?

Birthday Wishes: Horatian Ode

Sweet sixteen with no happy birthday cake.
Oh, Mother, you're missed but I am bitter.
How many hundreds did your calloused hands make?
So steady, so sure, why do they quiver?
A Mother who has no thought for herself,
A daughter too immature to think to help.
A lovely, womanly form, but only Momma to me..
Oh Momma, she has your eyes so you can watch over me.

Abducted suddenly from youth, captive in haggardly age,
Your battle with scalpels left their jagged marks…
Just as your ancestral Natives wore paint when war raged,
It was your way to push back at the dark.
If time were a river, I'd gladly jump right in…
To dark, freezing waters, no matter, I'd swim…
To try to give back a portion of your goodness and light,
Stand with my back to yours and together we'd fight.

Premium MemberOde To The 90s

It was a time that I will never forget,
a time of grunge, flannel, and war;

A War on authority, a war on what we knew;
Electric colors and synthesizers are gone;

I remember the death of hair metal,
and the birth of a much grittier truth;

Fangs were so easy to hide in ‘85,
yet it’s 1993 that left it’s mark on me;

Less acceptable distractions from ‘real’
made concealment a much tighter trick;

Oh 90’s energy and its desire to explode,
to create revolution kick down every door;

Although viewed by some as a renaissance,
this decade to me felt more like a demise;

A demise of decadence, a demise of phony;
It’s been a century now, things do change;
I’ve survived death many ways, many times;
Living through the 90’s I will never forget.

An Ode to the Housekeeper

I come from afar,
Leaving my loved ones at large
I am a Housekeeper, I am here to serve!

I was here during lockdown,
Never did I bog down
Preparing to welcome you safe,
Anticipating your fear and inhibitions
I am the Housekeeper, I am there!

As dark clouds hover over,
As fear and panic grips,
I am called at forefront,
I am the Housekeeper, never my commitment dips!

I walk towards the unknown,
Wearing a smile & my prayer
I don’t flinch, don’t sweat.
I am the Housekeeper, I don’t dread!

I am called upon, I respond,
I am at the front, I fight.
To keep you safe, to keep you fit.
I am the Housekeeper, I use all my might!

I work long, work hard
I prepare for you to return.
I risked, I battled.
I am the Housekeeper, the war is still on!

I am the Housekeeper, help me help the World,
Wear masks, follow protocols,
Join me in this fight,
I am the Housekeeper, let’s do what’s right!

I don’t need gratification
I don’t need sympathy
I am the Housekeeper, show me empathy…

Together we can achieve,
Together we can win,
I am the Housekeeper, I believe!

An Ode to Steven

Steven a wonder cursed to be a man,
The world made to his plan,
He works towards valiancy and tranquility,
Steven a victim of crime and pain,
A warrior a man held in high regards killed in disdain,

He lost his life fighting for our future,
His wounds unable to be sutured,
Lost his life to that Mega Dart,
That Nerf war so violent,
The world after his death fell silent,

Steven was a marvel in human form,
Carrying on now in his garb set and torn,
My world still moves yet time feels frozen,
Steven was a friend and a mentor all the same,
Now set to rest with no one who would give him blame.

Ode To Heroes

I look up to someone who
Doesn't know the things they do
Keeps me safe from harm each day
Every time they go away
And do a job without regret
It's something I won't forget
In harms path they will stroll down
Fear is something never found
Inside these heroes minds and hearts
I admire them a lot
Firefighters cops and soldiers
A heavy load on their shoulders
Determined they take a stand
Protecting people in this land
Of freedom. I salute you all

Life

The concept of emptiness
The vanity of vanity
What is enjoyment in you
The opaque that walks in the night
Like a strange soul upon the stygian bank
Wallowing in the pool of abomination
Dribs and drabs man is dashing away
Like smoke in the air
No one can stop the dregs of you
Life, the femme fatale
You enchant and en masse all
You ensnare the brilliant against the dull
You excel as light excels darkness
You ensconce nature with your charm
You enshroud the fact of nature
Your threnody is ambiguous
Now the sacred hope is stained
Man triumph another woe
Who will preach the woe that beside man
Taboo is an icon commemorating
Arrive, white aliens and save our soil

The Ode To Turkey Joe

’Tis a fate and one to fear
Whenever it’s this time of year
I’ve heard the tales but where to hide
Don’t need a most delicious side

Don’t want to be this dinner’s dish
My bones to pluck and make a wish
So stuffed and full of bread and sage
There’s hell to pay and war to wage

I cannot face another threat
                               Another lottery to bet
Will I end up a centerpiece
                   A succulent and flavored feast

’Tis my fate and one that’s clear
The gunshots nearing, I can hear
My feathers ruffled, breast to sigh
             Thanksgiving day, I’ll say goodbye
