There have been so many wonderful romantic films over the years but for many , Gone with the wind remains the best of all time , Our grandparents loved the film , Our parents too, We ourselves will have watched it many times too , There is a certain magic about both setting and characters and it is so easy to transport yourself back through time and picture yourself living the lives of such wonderful characters
Quite often these days we see remakes of the old classics and some of them are very good but I just don't think you could recreate the chemistry the characters had in gone with the wind and I'm sure the film will give joy to viewers for many more years to come .
As poets though we can push the boundaries and create situations where we interact with the characters and we have some fabulous romantic poets here on soup ,
So Jan and I are sponsoring a contest to uncover the very best , We want you to write a poem that would fit right in with the theme of Gone with the wind . Whole new Characters , Scripts and settings but your characters must be able to interact with the original .
We would like you to work in collaboration with a friend if possible because we have enjoyed writing together ourselves but it isn't essential
Your poem must be as romantic as you dare to make it
We will judge the poems together and we want to be as fair as possible , So no names please , Finding out what is your favourite romantic film might also be fun ,
To clarify the rules , Might I point out that there is absolutely nothing to stop you bringing your favourite characters from a modern day film to meet the characters from Gone with the wind , Just create a scene and make it happen , Rhett and Scarlett are eager to make new friends and are quite willing to travel as are the rest of the cast
