New Member Contest. Best day of your life! - Gareth James's Blog

<P>Hi everyone, i've just posted my first member contest and i hope that you think its a good contest to support! I've got a few great days in my life that i will remember forever as i'm sure all of you have. I just wanted to give the opertunity to you all to express the greatest feelings you have ever had. As there is such a diverse community on the Soup I think there will be a great range of personal experiences. All of which i'm sure you will all hold dear to your heart. With this in mind I understand what is important to one person may or may&nbsp;not be appriciated by another. Even though the content will be important in the contest, it will be down to how much feeling is expressed through the poem. </P> <P>A good friend of mine who wrote lyrics once said to me "Practice writing about how you feel staring at on open fire. Express all the emotion that comes to you. It's like meditation" I hold these words close to me all the time as it helps me develope my emotion while writing. </P> <P>Perhaps you can tell me who inspired you and what you do to develope your inspiration?</P>

Gareth James Date: 3/20/2010 6:01:00 AM Thanks for your support so far! I try at least 15 minutes of meditation every day. I have, in life, come up with some interesting ideas that have made people stop and think, and i believe its down to meditation. I feel it clears the mind of negativity and allows you to look at things in a new and fresh light. Login to Reply

Linda-Marie Sweetheart Date: 3/19/2010 8:00:00 PM Meditation is also a key factor and reading lots of creative visualization books to attain goals desired and of course the best book of all..the Bible.. now there's an inspirational tool.. full of luv .. sadness and joy and hope ... I find writing is very easy for me and have proven it to myself by entering nearly all of the contests posted by members and by Soup too.. creating a new poem for each new contest is an awesome experience and explodes the creative juices to overflowing .. thankxx Gareth for a great blog .. will go check out and enter your contest..luv.. I like what you said about staring into an open fire to express oneself. I've often sat around an open camp-fire with my family, and as we stare at the flames, we've had some of the best conversations, and family togetherness...even children seem to open up their deepest feelings around a fire, sitting in the dark.
