The Turn of a Card

The turn of a card,
the power it brings.
A new point in life
You’ll cry or sing

Amazed every time
truth is confirmed
The thoughts I say
minds concerned

How? I don’t know
I just know to be true
Wanting it in life
Now I’m over due

Gifted? Or a curse?
Never turned it away
Its comfort to many
Giving light every day

The turn of a card
Cuts like a knife
Never gives insight
Into my very own life!

Nice write. I live in Las Vegas area. I used to play blackjack on vacation and learned to play poker when I was six. I have a very good friend in Cheshire. I play Bingo and penny and nickle machines now. I'm pretty lucky most of the time. Irish in me I guess. Ellen

Though sometimes the cards don't always go our way hanging on to hope gets us through. Much to think about in this poem. And in the end, the truth does matter. Nice use of rhyme to share your thoughts. Keep on writing. Thank you for your kind comment. Karen
