Earthquake In a Tea Cup

"Earthquake in a Tea Cup"

the earthquake
rocked through
a pink haze
soft and powdered
scent of lit smoke
flaming fires
hot oven baked
green apples
ripe skin sizzled
and popped
ice cool cinnamon crisp
lemon peeled martinis
black russians and they're
ripped unfriendly cousins
Long Island Iced teas and
Asian Pear Chit-Cha toddies
osmanthus oolong trading
asset smiles flying under
the Roger Ramjet radar
exploded rapturously
candied petals floating
hearts marachinoed
stevia sweetened cherries
skewered and buttered up
mercilessly on the q.t.
roses burnt apricots
she arrived shimmering
in the clouds
a seduction
ruffling feathers
in their
crème de la crème
tea cups shaking
their quiet worlds up
dominoes lined straight laced,
drugged and shot
they all thought
it was the second
coming

the world
was her stage

the fall out
was atomic

their shadows
scattered

nuclear imprints

incalculable,
the numbers

Premium Member I Hear Folks Sayin'

I hear folks sayin' they have the right
To determine what goes into their bodies,
They are putting up an audacious fight
While scarfing down alcoholic toddies.

We have no idea what’s in the foods we eat
Chemicals and preservatives are so prevalent,
While inking up our skin, thinking it’s so neat
While performing a most dangerous stunt.

We don’t like being told what to take
Especially when it comes from Uncle Sam,
But we eagerly turn to the government
When we get ourselves into a financial jam.

We take the pills our doctor prescribes
And, frankly, some that our doctor doesn’t
So why are we writing all these diatribes
And taking medical advice from a cousin?

If I have a question, I’ll trust Doctor Fauci,
Who’s studied immunology his whole life
Suffering through a tiny jab … an “ouchee”
And cut out all the phony-baloney strife!

Premium Member Vanilla Kisses For My Princess, Rosy Ones For My Lady

It was a frozen winter made for cardigans and hot toddies
she my mother, my first teacher, was feeling sad
about what she couldn't say for she could not recall
I sat by her bedside and flipped through the old album
and while she nodded she silently, cried ...
" Tears are like the quiet drift
Of petals from some magic rose
And grief yet flows from the rift
   Of unremembered skies and snows"
"Was he my husband?" she asked me with a vacant stare
I quietly gave my consent then placed a hand on her frail shoulder
"can we go get some ice cream?" she asked
a grown child with a smile that I could not efface
The sun went down and as we sat in the cafeteria round
we ate vanilla ice cream from plastic cups
and watched the sun go down on the wintry hedge
"Vanilla kisses for my Princess, Rosy ones for my Lady"
That was what dad used to say to us each day
but tonight, she couldn't recall a thing that he would say.

two good longtime bosom buddies
puerile teasing games they play
they're inseparable toddies
they're different from night and day

puerile teasing games they play
ooh, ooh, eee, eee, aah, aah
they're different from night and day
arf, arf , dog object to its tah...

ooh, ooh, eee, eee, aah, aah
high-speed monkey pulls his friends tail
arf, arf , dog object to its tah…
feuds erupt, and calm still prevail

they're inseparable toddies
feuds erupt, and calm still prevail

Premium Member Endure the Last Days of Summer Rubaiyat

When the steam rises in the morn,
sun hot on body like reading ****,
salt cakes on skin that drips and stinks,
it's time to eat fresh crops of corn.

Humid air chokes breath with fire,
journeys plague--the need to pump tires,
the search for shade goes unspoken,
just plop down, read what's on the wire.

Blossoms sag heavy with pollen.
Animals huddle to back pen.
Mint's refreshment settles sad mind
over ice splashed with gin in den.

Day to day drags heavy on bones.
Salt taken with ham and corn pone.
All is slaked by the mental dream
take cash, run away, don't mind loans.

Cool sea splashes and bared bodies
are as soul good as hot toddies.
Climb aboard your board, sole captain.
Surf's cool free as winning lottery.

Premium Member All Ass

She's short and squatty, all ass, no body
Looks like this one's gonna end up bawdy
Out of control
The censor patrols
Gonna get me unless they're into the hot toddies

Premium Member When Snow Fell On Waikiki

Sunshine turned to cold sleet
Palm trees froze in place
Tourists walked down white streets.
to shop for hats and boots

Beach boys left the beaches;
 Surfboards were turned to sleds.
Rather than surfing waves
they slid down Diamond Head.

No more graceful hula;
grass skirts became passé.
Dressed in lederhosen,
slap-polka was the rage.

Don Ho found a new song
to thrill his many fans
 ‘Tiny toddies,’ every-
one, makes us all feel warm.

Holidaytime

Log cabin in the woods
Curly rugs and wood fire
Your with the one you love
Wonder what will transpire.

Steaks in the  fridge ready to cook
Potatoes wrapped up with foil
Your favourite novelists no.1 book
Libido starting to boil

Which will come first, book or bed
Come now its holiday time
Get those boots on lets get out the sled
Fresh air will cool you down

A roll in the snow face all aglow
Smiles from ear to ear
Its fun letting your hair  down
Acting like children without fear

Tired muscles hungry bodies
Climb back to the hut at last
Bubbling jaccuzi  and hot toddies
Sleepy, happy and relaxed.

Hot Toddies

Just today my nose started dripping
Sore throat, into the Vick’s I’m dipping
If this misery won’t go away
Hot toddies will come into play
To feel great, I’ll just keep on sipping

Rapture In Winter

The love light shines this winter time
as snow falls in the hills.
I hear bells in the distance chime;
my every dream fulfills.

A sleigh ride with the one I love
would be so very nice.
We'll glow under the moon above
as we clip through the ice.

Rounding the corner the road bends
into a patch of clearing.
There stands a cottage filled with friends
and hot toddies for cheering.

After a bit we'll say good-bye
and climb aboard our sleigh.
Under a blanket we stay dry
and go our merry way.

I never want this night to end
as snowflakes frost our chins.
I'm in love with my best friend;
our destiny begins.

Lighting Up

Smokers light up for various reasons,
Stress, anxiety, savoring a meal or
seasons,

Yet, rarely do they think of the harm
it creates in their bodies, hacking coughs
that require more than hot toddies,
Cigarette smoke and tobacco breeds cancer,
The relaxation it brings can never qualify
for a plausible answer,

Yoga and meditation may have the same effect,
the difference is, they don't send people to
quicker deaths.......

Lighting up rarely brings joy in the end,
especially if you have to watch a body
ridden with cancer at its last moments
before death.

Some Day

strawberry incense and baby oiled bodies
a twist of lemon in extremely hot toddies
sipped by succulent lips....

spellbound, i set my glass down
austrian crystal no match for a love so profound
she glows golden, silken as satin
whispered words which may as well have been latin
deaf to the world, lost in her mojo
petite hands brush my chest but i remain immobile
do something! say something! my mind screams
but it's such a little voice lost in my wildest dream

i find myself spiraling up the tunnel toward reality
awaken grainy eyed and..... alone
i turn to the headless pillow beside me

some how....

some way....

some day....
