Notes About The Poem

Christmas

Christmas

Christmas cheer is thick this year,
Hot toddies give way to highballs
Resulting in the requisite arguments,
Insults and black eyes,
Same as last year and the year before,
Tomorrow, too ~ New Year’s Eve,
Made for drinking and carousing
As the midnight striking of the clock
Signals another year of cheer.

Indeed. There was such a sad story in the news about how an argument ended with the husband killing his wife and stepdaughter, then killing himself. Alcohol was involved. So tragic!

It will take me a life time to read all your work but it will be worth it
