Through dusk’s shadows they soar,
flickering evening lights,
flies flashing cold fire,
bugs unleashing lightning,
micro-luminescent,
miniscule miracles.
Though fainter than candles,
clustered firefly flocks
flash brighter than stars
in summer night skies,
sparking joyous wonder,
fluttering till sunrise.
In our darkened world,
can we shine like them,
glimmering in the gloom,
gifting goodness and hope
for all those who grieve
until a new dawn?

Sing Your Song of Joy
9/19/2023
Of all the great joy that you experience in living,
Have no fear of what any human thinks of you!
Of any type of poetic music you feel, when truly giving,
Worse, be not desirous of praise~it maybe quite untrue.
Just be you, a poem need not be an overly decorated cake.
Simplicity and truth, are stunning contents, I prefer best.
As I sail in peace on a serene, autumnal, aquamarine lake.
I read your poems aloud, on my yacht, you are my guests!
Being real, far outdoes, being a wordy-poet flake.
We exist on earth, not in intergalactic spaces!
Real poetry grabs genuine poets, for heavens sake.
Better yet, it candlelights your soft, sculptured faces.

Candlelights
By Mark D. Stucky
A candle drives darkness back
with beauty of glowing light,
giving of itself as flame’s fuel
until completing its calling.
Then another candle takes its place…
and then another… and another…
Flickering but enduring,
a shimmering succession
persists while darkness reigns
until morning dawns eternal.

The light evening meal
Served under moon and stars,
Flickering candlelights whilst
Writing our memoirs.
Classical music;
Beauty to my ears,
Gazing up to Venus, Mars,
Thinking biospheres.
Accidentally tapping me
Underneath the table,
Glimpsing in my eyes
Like you’re ready and you’re able.
The buzzer sounding beeping
We both place down our ink,
A time to relax and
Not to over-think.
Carefully pour the wine
Smooth fruity chardonnay,
Happy cheers in unison
Homemade herb bread on tray.
Bread it tastes so earthy
Enjoying much to nibble;
Bread it is so yummy
Smiles, Winks…giggle.
Beginning on the soup
You made for me with care,
Organic hot tomatoes
OBSTRUCTION lack of air…
From Your human hair!!!
You just sit there on your lawn chair,
And glare and stare.
I want to swear and swear…
Though I’m choking and in in
In the middle of nowhere!!!

Ataraxis
Of that, that lazed in the league composed,
faraway sights gifted reserve from activewear a euphuistic fence,
the settling dust of undisturbed light flickers an arrival.
Yon an ornate circular gate is a varied stone patterned garden,
and a sparsed generous scattering of diverse bonsai tree settings,
fronts a Sleeping Jade Buddha in misty Jasmine smokey vapors.
Beyond the Japanese Tea garden in its genteel wake,
rests a surreal koi filled pond and a Japanese lanterned pathway,
leads to enchanting bridged tea pavillions of seven in harmony.
A therapeutic spa in relaxed equanimity awaits guest,
to a soothing massage amidst aromatic candlelights and redolent sprayed oils from the Far East, as a koto plays, and a geisha nocturnes.
Pleasantries and sweet dispositions lay in its wake,
as a commensuration in the departure of an unfathomable regret,
sets the opening stages of a welcomed future dream.

The gaudy beauty of the villas with
new money blazons on the pediments,
the Moon over the garden, the sea breeze,
orchids in bloom - they're all the elements
of the confusing game to lure me to
a point of no return. The sweetest lies,
the jewelry of tears, big and true
enough to kiss them - that's what underlies
your game of love. Please, add a little more
of candlelights reflected in your eyes,
a nightingale, a bit of the Dalmore*,
a swarm of cupids in the starry skies,
et voilà! Before this little verse
comes to its final stanza, I will bring
at your sweet feet the whole universe
with a tamed star of the engagement ring.
You checkmate me… I hope, my fiancee,
will never know I played at giveaway.
* A brand of whiskey.

Torchlights
on parade
many outward lights
with darkness concealed
until a bursting..
The allowing parade
and the anti-parade:
expressing our Freedom..
We celebrate Freedom
but also discernment..
We perceive darkness
and seemingly
discernment muffled
among those whom
democracy so recently
appointed...

Late chilly night on the street
you’re embracing me
Cloudy rainy night with pretty lips
you’re kissing me
Oh misty red scarlet night
you’re my pastime
For the night
Through the city gates we go our way
To the den of vice we make our way
With your hand in mine our energies combine
desire of the night with your touch
i feel alive
In your den of vice at the door
we find ourselves
with rose petal trails on the floor
to lead the way
Candlelights and deep stares with your eyes
I’m led astray
for the night
To your web of lust i’m led astray
To your arms i make my way
With your hand in mine our energies combine
desire of the night with your touch
i feel alive
you're the pastime of the night
you're the nights delight to me
you're the hearts desperate need
you're the nights gift to me

And now the trickles ripple rifting
through the hues of the sky—confetti!
The words of my mouth are paintings;
a projected splash all over—frantics!
Whether they drag down God's face
blaze out streamlights—candlelights
pin a billion sunrises into a stiffened day.
How over-good—worthless crystallites?
When they fall on mangrove skies;
borrowed zephyrs compress—upsize;
explode into sands of mustard seeds—ripe!
Germinate tons of thorns—stars—torn
prickles—squeals—resounds—muted cries;
the act of the hands, when they try and try
to seal the width and pit of the mouth—'unrise'
head's cap size—safeguard the crown—discrown.
How over-good—worthless crystallites?
The River births—your River mouth—'silverlites'
the tributaries—tributes—waterfalls —silver bird—
the screeching lines—over-stretched verse;
voice box machines—the echoes—out loud;
on the stainless-steel wall—a still pass
into dwindling star flaps—eyes lashed
How over good, all these worthless crystallites?

Aromatic lingering scents
Shadowed dancing from candlelights
Touches of scattered roses
Stings tickling the senses
On the dim cool lights
He held her slowly
On her narrow waist
He circled his arms
He led her on the floor
As music rises
Filling the room
He swayed her harmoniously
Eye-to-eye, they behold a gaze
Hands locked for support
Hips and lips graceful
With each hug and kiss
Uniting with the rhythm
Whispers one can audibly hear
Movements conjoined
Matching all push and pull
Even glides and circles
Breathing becoming ragged
Exploration up for a crescendo
Arms clutched as feelings rises up
Temperature fires up, boiling fast
Heartbeats thundering rush
Clamoring for a liberated climax
Then it explodes rigorously
Unstoppable beyond reproach
Time cease and freeze
Sighing.. Reviving deep
Plunging with the moment's bliss...

Washing over me; her warm breast, weighing joyfully amid such soft palms
Arms about dawns waist; dreams, smiling as gazing into her eyes to find..
Beauty that we share; butterflies, dancing within our hearts while chasing
But a breath; nothing has changed yet all is the same and everyday, is new
Time stills its frames; hands untying her negligee; lovely, her mirrors image
Twined in this love as satin falls unto the floor; about these fragrant kisses
Capturing hearts aneath reflections cast betwixt, chains of silverish hues...
Rose petals strewn atop the scented pillows; insatiable hungers to quench
This candlelights thirst; a poetics witness unto desirables rivers of pleasure
Murmuring gently loves silkened voice into the wanting sea; sands and surf
Soft velvet, weighing joyfully amid my palms; her breast, thus now glistening.

Reflection of your moon
Silent night I hear you whisper…
Shadows of people in a moony night
Little houses lit by candlelights.
Tonight I am Vincent, I am as mad as can be...
and I’m painting your picture for everyone to see.
Wait night... wait don’t go away... I am not finished...
I am scared......... I wont be here tomorrow for you!
Oh what a beautiful night I want to hold you......
Squeeze you... feel you until forever....…
Stay here with me let’s dream together....
Tomorrow will come and destroy our sand castle.
There we stand at the edge of your mystic river,
Wet feet gentle breeze you and me…
And the moon is playing hide and seek.....
Behind the transparent white clouds…
This is just a dream....

Wrapped about her waist her light as gazing into her eyes; her words
The beauty that we share; butterflies swirling inside the sky my heart
Chasing a breath; nothing has changed yet all remains the same; She..
Everyday feels so new; time stills its frame while untying her negligee
A mirrors image twined our love as satin falls, unto the floor; fragrant
Kisses capturing two souls cast betwixt reflectiions; chains in silverish
Hues; rose petals, strewn atop of scented pillows; insatiable to quench
This candlelights thirst; poetics witness streams we treasure her verse
Murmuring lightly love's silkened voice into the wanting sea a warmth
Weighing joyfully within my palms and her breast, thus now glistening.

Life on Earth is like a burning candle:
When the flame dies, there's one to rekindle;
While it stands, we see our youthfulness,
Shedding light and melting as time passes;
And while the top is away from the base,
Exude what brightness your clever mind says,
For a strong wind might blow one of these nights
And douse your fire and other candlelights,
Lest a faithful moth might become astray,
Groping, and then taking her life away.
The time she rests on a leaf in heaven,
She'd thank you for the glow you have given,
Just like the greatest poets in this world,
We can see their wit through each written word.
