Candlelights

A candle drives darkness back
with beauty of glowing light,
giving of itself as flame’s fuel
until completing its calling.
Then another candle takes its place…
and then another… and another…
Flickering but enduring,
a shimmering succession
persists while darkness reigns
until morning dawns eternal.

on parade
many outward lights
with darkness concealed
until a bursting..
The allowing parade
and the anti-parade:
expressing our Freedom..
We celebrate Freedom
but also discernment..
We perceive darkness
and seemingly
discernment muffled
among those whom
democracy so recently
appointed......
