A Father's Struggle Part III.... - David Grasby's Blog

So my little punk baby was born November 29, 2009.  He was a cute little thing.  So fragile. So strange. So mesmerizing.  A direct reflection of me. He was a happy baby.  When those blue eyes looked back at me I melted.  I have never felt like this toward another living thing.  Christmas that year was the best after all the struggle her three sisters and mom came out to see us.  It was a beautiful holiday. We hadn't seen here one sister in three years. To see them interact with Davion was priceless. My boy was being loved liked he deserved. My wife was being waited on hand and foot. Our family was mostly together.  Through an almost near tragedy to having a full house was amazing. I felt blessed.  As Davion begin to develop into the little boy he is now it was something out of a storybook. He had this personality about him. A nonjudgemental soul that was just happy being him.  He wasn't a bad baby. Only cried when he was hungry or needed a change. He loved his grandmother's beans but mommy and daddy did not.  He was playful. He had a courage about him.  He got frustrated when he started to walk. He knew he could do it but it just got to him. We tried to encourage him. If he fell we would yell safe and his tears turn to laughter. To watch a baby develop is the most amazing thing ever. To watch them explore and fell all around made me realize he was gonna be something great. as hew grew he became obsessed with dinosaurs and planes. By the time he was 5 he could identify more dinosaurs then I could think off. He would try to make us smile when days were gray. I can remember saying several times and even now today that his purpose in our life is to make us see only the little things. That these little things are nothing but a smile away. Now a 7 year old he is the most precious and forgiving person I have ever meant. 

He has his issues though and now the challenges of 1st grade have changed my joyful boy.
