"Izzie"
I know a quiet girl whose name is Izzie
Pays twenty dollars to get a little dizzy
Lately, she's busy smoking up on that boy
Poisoned capillaries we both can enjoy
She's been romanced in pitch black death
Sells her frail body that's powder fresh
Her blood jacked up for a little taste
Stabs a vein with her favorite toxic waste
Come on lil Izzie it's all you care to smoke
Don't worry this time, iffin y'all be broke
There's plenty more where that came from
Izzie baby, you & that boy sho enuf in love
Come see Daddy Kane any time baby
Now don't ya forget next time it'll be eighty
Midnight room filled in a junkie's worst kinda fears
Searching the floor hoping something appears
Combing the fibers of carpet for souvenirs
Just a mirage all your hopes disappear
Hush lil baby don't say a single word
Daddy Kane has got you a lil reward
The Punk Poe…
Always Be Punk…
Always Be Drunk…

He trundled his way up the three heavy steps
His mop of hair searching every direction
In the middle of the stage a brash spotlight
shone on a large drum kit
Behind a curtain dangled over a hand painted sign
The burgundy curtains partially
covering the letters making it look like alent sho
The boy now seated behind the kit dwarfed by its side.
He adjusted his seat slightly, closed his eyes and
took a breath
The crowds murmurs abruptly cut by some drunks
sloshed repartee -Hey.kid you, a belch breaking his sentence-forgot your sticks
With a tiiter of some of the onlookers
The young boy slowly opened his eyes
A tear slowly rolled down his pale cheeks
Swaying from his chin for a moment
before falling
It meandered along the cymbal's it’s tremor almost melodically before snapping upon the snare
Each tear falling in perfect formation
No beat missed a methodical beat
One after another
The silence of the audience
mesmerised by his music
He played with such sadness
The tears of those watching only adding to his symphony

Fast Talker
By: Miracle Man
6/3/2024
The goods being sold
never seemed to matter,
For her speech was “Faster
than small town chatter”.
An auctioneers voice
was her greatest asset,
and “she could talk the legs
off a chair” I bet.
“She speaks ten words a second,
with gusts to fifty”
But when it came to talent
she wuz sho nuf nifty.

Oh, Miss Mantis
Oh so sublime
Why did you get me smiling like this?
Saturday night sho' blew my mind
Oh, Miss Mantis
Oh so unkind
Why are you killing me like this?
It's another Saturday night but you say you

Sit-ups, planks, and crunches
My push-ups done in bunches
Deep heavy squats from the rack
Deadlifts are good for my back
Just pumping up my biceps
And cutting up my triceps
I'm sweating harder each day
So I look sharp when I play

Big Deal
Own it , control it
Don't hold it
Hold it all in
You were meant to win ??
Life throws all kinds of challenges
Know that you can manage
Manage
Take control
Don't fold
Just hold
Hold on
It's coming
All that you ask for
So much in store
You will get
Don't live life with regrets
Do what you feel
You are a big deal
Big Deal
Big Goals
God plans
He's in control
(Repeat 1x)
Stand on what's right
Don't get blinded
Lose your sight
Get a new pair of lense
That's where the faith begins
Faith is believing in the unbelievable
Achieving the unachievable
It's real
With God
We leveled up such a big deal
His blessings for you are sealed
Ready to be open
Constant praise and devotion
No body has to understand
You see God said when others doubted you couldn't
He would show you that you can !!!
Big Deal
Big Goals
God plans
He's in control
(Repeat 1x)
I'm a big deal
That I know
Standing on it for sho
(,Repeat 1×)
Big Deal
Big Goals
God plans
He's in control
(Repeat 1x)
Repeat until chorus fades

Death Of The Old Cowboy On The Lonesome Range
Ravenous wolf pack, ripping and tearing
red-stain bloody meat from his dead horse flank
much better the dead horse than me he thought
as he looked up at hot sun glaring.
Dreaming now, his beautiful gal holding tight
aching head laid in her luxurious lap
mused what sorry cowboy sight this is
an old cowboy sho gonna die tonight.
Then waking again, he was fine alright
that June morn was sure so fine to behold
again that pretty gal rushed to him
saying, dear cowboy ain't you such good sight.
Sleep, a gentler sleep all he would need.
Asleep he fell and then to death he bleeds.
Robert J. Lindley, sonnet
April 2nd, 1971
Note- This has been written after my watching
the cowboy save the pretty girl, but then he died
from fighting of Apache braves for two days.
His guns empty, his heart and dreams took over
to ease him beyond the deep purple veil.

Yes, Growing A Fine Ole Southern Garden
In the garden strawberries are dancing about so red
Momma's cantaloupes laying there just waiting to be ate
Over there luscious red roses resting in fertilized bed
Them thar fine butterbeans are sho' nuff blooming out too late
And that bright yellow corn this year is gonna yield a lot
Sister's radishes, man what a fine and most tasty treat
Watermelons over there looking great in the corner plot
Those orange colored carrots sho' gonna be good to eat
There growing gleaming dark green onions that will taste so fine
Grandpa's chick peas in long rows sho-nuff need to be gotten
Momma's own cabbages made a bumper crop so tasty to dine
Alas! Those tomatoes, the entire lot are all rotten.
Well friends, another down home well grown garden growing fine.
We do things alright here just below the Mississippi line.
Robert J. Lindley, Sonnet

A beaver and a bandicoot,
After playing squash one day,
Were sipping cappuccinos
At a quaint outdoor café.
"Ah, thish ish sho like Parish",
Lisped the beaver with a sigh.
"And I," remarked the bandicoot,
"am 'minded of Mumbai,
And Rome, and Barcelona,
And so many other places."
The beaver merely sat there
Being quiet and making faces.
"What's the matter, chum?" asked bandicoot,
His voice as soft as flannel,
"I thought you tripped as much as I.
Don't you watch the Travel Channel?"

I'll take 'em any day of the week,
I can't lie
Sounds so good that it makes you get up out of your seat
Today, we're just sitting with our phones,
I can't lie
Got me feeling like an alien who just wants to go back home
Back home to where it wasn't perfect,
I can't lie
But it sho' was nice and sweet, so authentic
Give me some Freddie Jackson, You Are My Lady.
I can't lie
Give me some Rick James; come on, Give It To Me Baby
Give me some Sade, Smooth Operator,
I can't lie
Give me some Rene and Angela, I Love You More
Give me some Irene Cara, Flashdance What a Feeling,
I can't lie
Give me some Journey, Don't Stop Believin'
Please, just give me the Golden 80s
A lovely time of living, dancing, and making beautiful babies
