He showed up dressed in black leather
Dates aren’t meant to last forever
     It wasn’t just fun  
     He was on the run
A hostage date was --quite clever

The one that we keep insight
A forever moment cherished in time
The work is done, and the hill is climbed

Dive in
Baby there's sharks in the water,
I need to get in the waters,
You know where not getting younger,
Well sink or we'll swim,

Invincible, until you cut me open,

Wings

If I had wings to fly,
I'd breathe in deep
and spread them wide
as I leap from the cliff
into the wind
where the seagulls glide.

Crossing this wide sea
I glide above cruel waves
that reach up 
to drown my flight 
in their cold and deep
blue-green graves.

And as your day grows slowly light
I'd arrive on worn-out wings
to hold you in your

Deception

At sunset, orange frescos on the west wall
Sink gradually into the bowels of hills flung
By distant wavelengths of a backward illusion,
Which yells silently at concupiscent terns,
Yodelling and returning from carnivals of the
Wild. From the faint glow, a rainbow stretches
For a cuddle, musing over a curious world,
Ditched by diaphanous tarradiddles of the odd.

The Story's Not Over

I've finally reached it
What I'll call the end
A volume of poems
For my special friend
A thousand that took me
Three years to construe
And all of these poems
Were always for you

In a Quiet Place

I'll be waiting quietly 
Back behind the scenes
In case, perhaps it's meant to be
That we live out those dreams 
I'll still be up most half the night
Thinking hard and long
And in my mind 'twill in my sight 
See Bluebird singing songs
Reading books I think you'd like 
Each year one more in sum
Talking to you while

There's a plaque at number 1-0-5
'Twill be there for some years
And anyone who looks at it
Will just see what appears 
But they won't know the meaning
What lies behind the word
All they'll see when reading it
Is simply this, "Bluebird"
A testament to something?
A nickname for someone?
No one will have an inkling 
They'll just think it's fun

Your spot without you standing there 
Could never be the same
Even if it's occupied 
By someone with your name
There's only you, your rightful place?

I strum for just you babe

'Til the End of Time

You know how much I love you
I've told you many times
In many different formats
In music and in rhymes
The question never whether
The answer was I do
And that love will not sever
Until my days are through
