You do not beat the Devil
By hollering at him, punching
Him in the face – that’s what
He is, violence, physical and
Spiritual discord. You do not
Beat the Devil by heated protests,
He feeds on your discord, relishes
Your fevered pitch. You don’t
Beat the Devil by binding him,
Throwing him into flames – He
is flame, pain and suffering. He
Joyfully savors every lick and
Subsequent ash. In fact, you do
Not beat the Devil, the Christ
In you must be risen to bear
Righteous arms. Take the battle
Upon yourself, make yourself
Arbiter of the Lord’s justice
And you will lose – He will
Defeat your lesser ego for that
Is his inlet and base of operation.
Shut Him out, do not give him
Any power for presence – and
God wins. We all win…. As my
Dearest Friend said, "Resist
Not evil."
Wanting to develop a
line of sandwiches
he labored with freinds
to get the right taste
and combinations
that with flavor
would intensify folks
need to be satisfied.

When I'd go out with him
I'd say "Aye- Mista, toast my bread
and put the garlic spread
on it with swiss and chedda"
he'd tell me "you know me better
then that we gotta make it specail"
And he did, once I got a hot roast beef with
swiss and chedder with carmelized onions and garlic

Perfecto, aint that right Catchey?
Catchey say's it's right.

sings a lullaby shouts rebuke
forever giving endless forgiving
cuddles with soft hands scolds with look of eyes
a candle that gently guides a flint that fires up the child
kisses heals with tender grace hugs forgives all falls from grace
silence teaches more than words songs unsung are yet always heard
soft hands set child free yielding never losing touch
endless is the sacrifice small are the rewards
beholds the dawn relishes the dusk
laughs out loud weeps in silence

The waves&her
Along the waves she ambles
Prevailing the ocean elysian
The longing feel of a hiraeth
Sensual, her cheeks aflush; An inamorata.
She gently rubs her eyes and sees-
the bewitching phosphenes:
Ludic, And apricate.
Among the waves she stood, in-stillness.
The aurora reflecting on her eyes.
In werifesterias, she questions and halts,
The alexithymia she relishes
Then she ruminates with a glee.
The ocean flows mellifluous-
Dulcet. So orphic.
Away from the waves she walks,
Ephemeral, on the way to her metanoia
Absquatulate.
My tabby cat with spectacles on nose,
Sits on a chair in imperial pose.
She holds an open book in one hand,
And a mug of coffee of a fresh brand.
Though she controls only the mouse,
She acts as though the empress of the house.
She sits content in the glare of the sun,
And reads of adventures of great fun.
With a blink of eyes and flick of ear,
She keeps turning pages in great cheer.
She relishes sipping the hot coffee,
And enjoys her uninterrupted spree.
She sits dangling her feet in joy.
I wonder what is her next ploy.
Folding the book, she bids goodbye,
And drifts off to sleep closing her eye.
“Better to shun the bait than struggle in the snare”
William Blake
With a fragile earth warm, I lure my Labeo rohita.
Minute minnows manage many magical Mackerels.
Shrimps attract snapper, arowana, and tilapia.
Aren't baits also in the form of bread, biscuits, and bagels?
Best cows as baits to lions, fleshy fawns as baits to tigers
Live dogs lure the crocodiles, and greens charm the elephants.
Covets, cravings, wants, wishes, inclinations, and desires
Are poured into the human psyche to find their relevance.
We consume the bait. Baits consume us. Irrationally!
With their colour, form, shape, beauty, and lure, I'm imprisoned.
I enter this trap, this hole, and this grave casually.
I struggled all through my life as though fate had commissioned
The piece of butter and cheese, with bread and fish relishes
Which being, I do not know, enjoys each of these dishes?
A dark blue midnight awning has its portrait,
etched by a a starlit silver lustrous galaxy,
silhouette of black lace frilled clouds,
in somber quietude adrift beneath a vibrant pearl,
amber moon whose gleaming radiance bemused awhile,
at the stark underbelly of flickering candles,
that the urban nocturne spellbound revel in perchance,
sleep pattern held captive by ethereal bliss,
angelic dreams wrapped in opal tincture,
what optic relishes await at early first light,
a colourfast dawn unveils it’s bronze bespoke banner,
heaven bound yellow flare insouciant whim,
red orange burst sky a stirring presage,
for wingspan flight of stone gray plume creature,
natural world usher whose gold throat cadence,
rouses wonderment among the persimmon trees,
tapping into human yearning for awestruck omen,
Kashmir bright velvet hue azimuth a scant gem,
yet sapphire orb twinkles close or distant lure
might embolden dull minds with ardent spark

Publicly
advertising
he doesn't tickle
her fancy.
If that's no lie,
then why
seek him out
surreptitiously?
Her terms of endearment
flow like honey off her lips,
but what are they worth?
Does she mean anything she says?
Profound confusion
blowing like smoke
in his mind
expands into
a mushroom cloud.
He endlessly wonders
if her attraction is true.
Her mixed messages
traps him
hook line and sinker
in chin-stroking discombobulation.
She relishes dangling
her feminine wiles
to him like a carrot.
When he comes close
to nibble at her charms,
she p u l l s away.
How cruel?
She's a struck match
that goes out in the frigid cold.
He can't seem to make
heads or tails
of her words and deeds.
What sort of game
is she playing?
It's perplexing.
Mushrooms push up their caps
in a cow meadow.
The bovine dung adds that umami taste,
it's the Glutamate, that relishes and beguiles.
The cows don't eat the button mushrooms,
but as they graze, they may scoop some
into their contently chewing mouths.
I think these thoughts in a steak restaurant,
while adding Worcestershire sauce to my oxtail soup.
Mushroom will be arriving on this white linen
tablecloth
soon.
Raucous
Raucous, rollicking rain
Rambles on hills and plains,
Relishes rumbles in
Raptures of raw laughter,
Raindrops razzle-dazzle,
Rambunctious and rowdy,
Riots of rakish rascals
Fruits Of War's Futility, Death And Destruction
As glittering spit falls upon hot rocks
rare gemstones melt into a frigid sea
ailing ships lay about three fallen docks
hummingbird chases a dozen honeybees
irreparable desert begs sullen sky
for some rain, as winged bats vacation
from the fiends that pursue asking the why
no trains dare stop at the new train station.
In rocky mountainous purple terrain
earth cries with billowy indifference
rattlesnake and mouse both cry out for rain
two red ants fight without interference.
An ocean vessel sails around the Horn
its ten guns aimed at both you and he
a mother doe gives up her first newborn
and with that Nature sprouts Sycamore tree.
As glittering spit falls upon hot rocks
ailing ships lay about three fallen docks
who cares that a great war is to be fought
with victims begging for peace to be sought?
Robert J. Lindley, rhyme

Note ( A guy from our hometown was killed in the Vietnam war )
Teddy Talley. Sad and tragic..
War is an evil that mankind relishes and indulges in..
Here I am at the crossroads
Staring blankly at the inky dark sky
Beaten to a pulp and helpless
By forces of darkness
Here I am lying in the pool of my emotions
Clutching at every straw
To maintain sanity and stability
Here I am a victim of a system
That dehumanises her own
Here I am cloned from a contraption
Built on the foundation of impunity
Feeding her children with frustration
Here I am a victim of a country
That glamourises wrong values
And deliberately relishes
Living a lie of romantic proportion
Here I am fearful of a tomorrow
Bleak and hopeless for my children
Victims of a country gradually
Disappearing from global map of decency
A man still in the darkness
Who has never seen the light
Is better than a man toying with darkness
From the vantage point of light
One knows and lives with the pain
The other sees his own injuries and bleedings
One only reaches for whatever to hold and retain
Another well sees the paths and their leadings
One a stickler for the ways of the ancestors
Better he who remains until he finds new conviction
Than he who tramples on God as one of the gestures
Of one feeling free of need for his accumulation
If the worldly want to keep their worldliness
With cunningness, insistence and assertion
Ye called by God's Name keep your godliness
With faith, the Word, assurance and meditation
Whoever know what to do and doesn't sins
Whoever lacks by rejecting knowledge perishes
Yes, endowment can come to one who gleans
And a gleam can lead to the light that virtue relishes
K. Muitherero
Creative souls flourish.
While others try to kill spirit of freedom .
A fascist dictator cuts off the hair of the beloved Rapunzel. She no longer lets her hair down.
Hansel & Gretel are locked inside a cage no more days of skim boarding or sunsets by the canyon.
Walt Whitman is saddened by this oppressive state .
Children are craving fun & imaginative experiences; while an iron clad fist relishes in madness .
