My tabby cat with spectacles on nose, Sits on a chair in imperial pose. She holds an open book in one hand, And a mug of coffee of a fresh brand. Though she controls only the mouse, She acts as though the empress of the house. She sits content in the glare of the sun, And reads of adventures of great fun. With a blink of eyes and flick of ear, She keeps turning pages in great cheer. She relishes sipping the hot coffee, And enjoys her uninterrupted spree. She sits dangling her feet in joy. I wonder what is her next ploy. Folding the book, she bids goodbye, And drifts off to sleep closing her eye.

I am sad that I forgot to enter this in the contest after writing and posting it well in advance. When the results came, I was almost sure that I would get some placement. But on checking, I found I had not entered this. This has happened many a time. :(

Cats have more fun time than most humans. You have done this prompt so well with lovely rhyme used Dear V "Though she controls only the mouse, She acts as though the empress of the house." I'm sure there's enough work to go around taking care of the mouse. The only time the cat gets to rest is when you're asleep. Ensure the cat shares synopsis of the book to you. Now that I think about it. I'm sure it's trying to hit on another cat, looking all serious and invested in something great. Hahaha.

What a pleasure reading this wonderful creative poem about your TABBY CAT! Cats have an imperial air about them, as they plan their stealthy kill of tonight. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

Dear sweet valsa, is there any form or prompt that you possibly cant do? This is brilliant and i love and admire your rhymes too, so clever and creatively done and delivered about this cat. Ah iv seen cats to be as such, and i love the way youv said she acts like the empress of the house that made me smile. Alot of times cat owners tell me this about their cats, so i think many can resonate with your cute fun and whimsical poem so eloquently delivered! Pleasure reading this! Best wishes always

Love it! Very similar to mine...but mine is usually holding a Racing Form and a cigar between his teeth. "She sits dangling her feet in joy. I wonder what is her next ploy." Never out think them, always four paws ahead of us. Well done, Valsa. You may have a winner here. Blessings.

Dear Valsa, What a playful and whimsical portrayal of a cat's imagined human-like behavior. I see in your artistic words the cat's perceived sense of importance and contentment in the household, which is perfect for a cat. I just loved your anthropomorphism to depict the cat as a leisurely, sophisticated reader, highlighting the often regal and self-important demeanor that cats are known for. LOL!! - Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel
