An Open Letter to the Flat Earth Society

Do you sometimes use GPS
To navigate your flat world?
Did you ever wonder how all those satellites
Get around to the underside?

Do you use a flush toilet
Or a siphon?
See, fluids can sometimes run uphill.
Your “the Amazon River is flat” theory
Fails to hold water.

Did you ever consider an Antarctic cruise?
Did you ever want to sail around the South Pole?
You could look out for the ice-wall
That you think holds the oceans in.

Do you recognize a metaphor?
When the Bible talks about the
“Four corners of the Earth”,
It’s an idiom for distant lands,
Or is your world-view ‘square’?

Every other celestial body we can see is round.
Why should the Earth be so different?
Phases of the Moon,
Pictures of Earth taken by astronauts,
The “celestial spheres” really are spherical.

If you need a book to tell you what is real,
Try a physics book.
If you need a tool to discern what is right,
Try logic or experiment.
Try to see beyond the horizon.
If your world is really constricted
To what you can see from your limited view,
Then, perhaps, start walking.

Premium Member An Open Letter

All the days of my life, nobody helped me with money except myself and limited, recognized number of family members. I never asked any favor from anybody, but I'm very grateful to God for having very few supportive and loving family members and friends who are still around for me. I may have helped or assisted some people in this world, but I never asked for anything in return.

Your precious time, reading all my works and writings, is already an acknowledgement and appreciation of my presence.

I am still poor with material things up to this day. If you want to help me, any small donation will do.

Thank you for your prayers and GOD be with you always!

                                                                    Cliff

 P.S.
For many years I never had a social
media account -- no Instagram, no
Tik Tok, no FB. Up until today, I don't
have one. I don't write anywhere else,
only here on poetrysoup.

The promised rain ate itself in the clouds
Without spilling a drop down
Changing swings for the roundabouts
On the sunny street of uptown
I saw an open letter, a piece
Of white paper, spinning down from the sky
It was written there if you see this
Don’t tell, and don’t wonder why.

Open Letter

Open letter
USA, Britain, Australia and France
You people of the Anglo-Saxon world
Damn you for letting this war go on
Your hatred of all things Russians
Knows no limit goes back to the time
of the Tsars
Sacrificing Ukraine for the ideology
That you are the rulers.
No, Russia, the far east and Africa
Will not bend to your dictate and
Damn the political tyranny in Europe
And damn Putin for walking into your
Trap, shouldering the blame for your
Sinister plans.
But you will not win the world, is getting
Wise to your power grab.

Premium Member An Open Letter To President Putin

Oh, you powerful president of great Russia:
The largest country in the world
With its 17.1 square kilometers area
Covers 1/8 of the inhabited land of the globe.

Why have you attacked neighboring Ukraine?
Why started killing its people and devastating their land,
At the moment they hadn't caused any harm to you
Neither had they intended their country to expand?

You say you are a Christian and that to God you believe
Yet, the whole planet you threaten to destroy
With the 6,257 nuclear warheads, you possess
From which the 1,456 you are ready to deploy.

Ivan the fourth "The terrible " one may think your ancestor is
For he also to church went each and every day
And when the mass, finally, after many hours over was
He was going to torture men and some of them to slay.

Now, in the 21st century that we live
You seem Ivan's ferocious and heartless image to revive
Perhaps to torture and threaten the world with obliteration
BUT Mr. President know this: No matter what you do, we shall survive!

Joe Demino and Dr Thomas Wells Open Letter

I
Many great poets, two especially Grace -filled
One adores biblical and scientific truth
The other is masterful with American "culture"
I love both their beautiful minds, big hearts
How do I NOT mention Jesus and Scripture
When I would never be here but for His change
Of me from an arrogant Hindu - similar to arrogant Bible-thumping Christians?
Jesus help them help me stay the UNITY course

An Open Letter To Sir Depression

It took my last brain cells working together to figure out your gender. At first I honestly thought you were female considering how society says that those affected by you "are just seeking attention" , but when the sun was not shinning on my lawn you paid me a visit. It made sense for me to think you're male.I mean no offence or anything, but you are so similar to the men in my hood, you're so violent. You abuse and ask the victim to not tell anyone, that's at least until you kill them and have people protecting you because aye' "she had it coming." Whilst knowing deep down that she just wanted you to die,not her soul but if that's what it would take to get rid of you she'd do it,because you engulfed her ambition, happiness, love. You turned her into a statistic. She became depression itself.

Open Letter

I struggle with depression
I struggle with pain
Every morning I wake up
It seems like it's in vain

My family they love me
But it's me who don't love me
I look into the mirror
And all I see is terror

Its like I'm lost in a maze
For Every night I blaze
But when the high goes away
The devil comes out to play

The sun never shines
Only clouds they show
All my calls you decline
The reason I want to know

I have everything I want
I have everything I need
But yet I'm so unhappy
This depression is so real

I lay down at night and cry myself to sleep
You would think that I'm lying cuz there are no tears to show

I long for the day that I don't wake up
The glorious day that I return to dust
I've come a long way from where I was before
I just don't want to go on living anymore

An Open Letter To a New Love

The key, may it be
        One that lets us see
       The soul and it’s light
          For it is only right

To plot the course of life
           That we have set
     To remain in-between love
             And happiness

For at times life is mete
By minutes that last a lifetime
So let us begin to the path; to
       Set forth with open minds.
Guided by our body and soul

       Let, no one tell us different;
             For…the past lover
         No longer plays that role.

An Open Letter To Terrorist

Your words like daggers, your deeds like swords,
And in your wake, you leave bleeding hoards.
Often children stripped from their mothers
Killing your own sisters and brothers!
Because they do not bow to your ways
Their cities must go up in a blaze?
How many must die because of you,
Ancient cities fall, before you’re through?
Who filled you with that false promise
That your terror on earth He’d dismiss?
That God would hold you in high regard
As a martyr, you’d find your reward?
How could you bring Hate to religion,
When His words of love you abandon?

Open Book, Open Letter

I was an open book
I shared an open letter
It was getting old anyway
What am I talking about
My feeling were real
the pain is real
I can hide behind my fury, my pride, everything I am
but I'd still be broken down inside
I can say none of this has phased me
look at this as learning
say nobody can break me down
but how much of that is true
when I know deep down inside
I don't have a clue
How everything just suddenly
turned into a raging storm
Everything was falling up
now everything's spiraling down
I'm an open book
but I feel like dying now
Everything I held onto
the one thing I kept
lost it in a game of charades
a childish bet in a game I've never won
And I'm trying to play it off
walking tall
hiding myself in the shade
smiling at my surroundings
while at home
I bury my face in my pillow
dream of a willow
sitting by the sea
attempting to possibly do the impossible
and try to do the act of forgetting

An Open Letter of Warning

An Open Letter of Warning
So many ills are here in this world
Open the Facebook
On the thousands of pages
There is only blood
From the rapes and murders
From wars and occupations
This earth has been turned into red from green
Nearly every one is against every one
Madness has gripped the race of man
All are becoming the patients of lust and greed
Universities are less than the bombs and missiles
Nature is bleeding
Few are there to take care of
The roughs like termites
Eating us all from inside
Any time the civilization may collapse
Like a cracked up bridge
Or burst into flames
Or freeze into nuclear winter
As we are sitting on a huge pile of explosive materials
Any touch on a wrong button by any mistake
May leave us no one to see our own end
Revenge mentality is so strong that
We possess the dead hand weapons
So sorry to say
The sordid state of the whole mankind
And beg pardon to my own conscience to go so negative.

Open Letter

Let this be my open letter to you
if I don't do it enough
let this be my letter of dedication
to let you know you are appreciated

If there was a such thing as
happily ever after this is it
this relationship
this partnership
this gift
your presence is my present
it's a blessing to share
my life with you
I just want you to know that I
dedicate this to you

Everything about you is amazing
breath taking
I aspire to have your patience
the Goddess who brings life
into this world
you are my inspiration
while others have taken you
for granted
I recognize your worth
I'm in love whole heartily
so truthfully speaking
you are my first
you're the one who still
makes me feel shy
when we step out
but there isn't a doubt in my mind
that we deserve each other
we belong together

this is me not being able to
express to you enough how
important you are to me
so I had to write to you
my Queen this open letter

Open Letter

You see me,
But in a while
You will not;
I become one
With the wind and the rain.

We touch,
Relish the warmth and passion,
But when the clasp breaks,
I reside in the quiet
Of your heart.

On your bad days,
I am your friend;
On good days,
We laugh and play
As before, but here's a clue:
Nothing has really changed.

You don't need a psychic
To relay from " beyond";
Do you wonder where I am,
Or if I'm OK?
Listen: I will tell you.

Tears come,
But I'll let you in on a secret:
I have never left;
No, I am not here as before;
If you look at the sunshine,
You will see me smile.
