Open Letter

You see me,
But in a while
You will not;
I become one
With the wind and the rain.

We touch,
Relish the warmth and passion,
But when the clasp breaks,
I reside in the quiet
Of your heart.

On your bad days,
I am your friend;
On good days,
We laugh and play
As before, but here's a clue:
Nothing has really changed.

You don't need a psychic
To relay from " beyond";
Do you wonder where I am,
Or if I'm OK?
Listen: I will tell you.

Tears come,
But I'll let you in on a secret:
I have never left;
No, I am not here as before;
If you look at the sunshine,
You will see me smile.
