a penny saved is a penny earned
adding insult to injury, her love was spurned
afraid of his own shadow and against all odds
airing his dirty laundry happened to both Todds
the all mighty dollar earned by a chip off the old block
all talk no action and an axe to grind, said Mrs. McLock
barking up the wrong tree was a little dog too
quiet as a mouse was my mean Aunt Louise Sue.
A ditty to my titty
There you are upon my chest
You used to be the boob I loved best
But now all you do is cause me grief
I just need a moments relief
But you would rather swell and cause me pain
Make my skin itch again and again
This journey so far , has been too long
I’m starting to think we don’t belong
To add insult to injury there’s a wound that won’t heal
I’m forced to wear dressings-I’m sick of this deal!
This wound has ruined nearly all of my bras
I think this issue has gone too far!!
Now my skin is attacking me
Itch itch scratch scratch
please just let me be!!
So here it is- a ditty to my titty
I beg you please- stop being so ty
Ice on the fence wire …
insult to injury
The barb when it’s deadly
pointed and sharp
A night rain has frozen
and hidden the danger
Awaiting intruders
—that come in the dark
(Dreamsleep: November, 2023)
Sweater and knee socks in May
As around her
All present sweltered
damp browed assuring
She felt just fine
In things unseasonably sheltered
A boundary crossed
The sweater removed
Insult to injury by force
Seeing the reason
And humiliation
Immediately showing remorse
Gently escorted away from
The eyes
that looked on ,and on,it seemed
After the big unveiling
the rest
A nightmarish dream
The role of being
A spokesman unwittingly
given that day
No looking not
Or deciding
to look the other way
We all have an obligation
to the fragile
Or dispossessed
Trying to hide
their battle scars
Each day as their getting dressed
Be the one who says
"Come with Me"
As you guide them out of this mess
Love in action
Love indeed
Not shallow words professed
I'm shocked and it's hard for me to believe.
My fiancee has left me on New Year's Eve.
I thought she loved me and it's hard for me to understand.
My fiancee said goodbye and she ran off with another man.
I was good to her and there is something I've come to regret.
She convinced me to mortgage my home and buy her a brand new Corvette.
She left me and it has broken my heart and reduced me to tears.
After this, I know that it will be impossible to enjoy the new year.
She ran off with that man in the Corvette that I bought.
I hope she and her lover will suffer, I hope they will rot.
She was supposed to marry me and give me a life time of happiness.
That wicked witch played me like a fiddle and now I'm so depressed.
When she ran off in the car that I bought, she added insult to injury.
My poor heart is broken and as I enter the new year, I'll be in misery.
It was the night before Christmas and all through the house,
Santa stole all of my stuff and he ran off with my spouse.
That fatso stole everything that I had.
I was shocked because Santa went bad.
All that he gave me for Christmas was the finger and some coal.
I decided to get even this morning when I went to the North Pole.
I gave his reindeers liquor and got them drunk.
When Santa started flying, his ship was sunk.
His reindeers crashed and Santa has a lot of broken bones.
And to add insult to injury, I pelted the punk with stones.
Now Santa is in the hospital in a body cast.
I got even for what he did one year in the past.
Bearing the brunt of betrayal,
his long-time lady lover leaves him
for another flame. Surprisingly saying
"I'm so sorry, Sam, we should start
seeing other people"
Broken by a brutal blindside
out of nowhere. He couldn't comprehend
the reason; the shock shook him
like a loud trembling thunder
shakes someone out in the rain
Suddenly lovelorn,
he's left wondering why.
"What did I do to deserve this?"
To add insult to injury, he learns
she left him for his best friend, Bruce.

‘Twas the night before Christmas and I’ve gone and broken my big toe,
I slipped and fell and injured it, in the freshly fallen snow!
I was carrying the Christmas tree, the one that set alight
Though the chap in the hardware store swore the lights would be alright!!
I’d gone to get some batteries, triple A, I was assured,
By the chap at the hardware store, whose knowledge I applaud,
But my smoke alarm is double A, and so it didn’t work,
When the Christmas tree set on fire and my wife called me a jerk!
But you haven’t heard the worst of it, I almost dare not tell,
Because all of the Christmas presents, set alight as well.
You see we keep to our tradition, put the gifts under the tree
And to add insult to injury was the vicinity of our settee.
The only saving grace was that our tv did not perish,
So I’m sat upon the floor, at least I’ve got the films to relish,
With remote safely in hand I search the films I most desire,
But the message on the screen says ‘your subscription has expired!’

Please don't add insult to injury
Let’s agree to disagree
Somewhere somehow inadvertently
You lost the last of your integrity
You’re not the boss of me
You’ve forgotten the basics of courtesy
And carry on quite dastardly
You spit out words maliciously
At every opportunity
You’re not the boss of me
So moody and such vulgarity
Not a bone of decency
You don’t deserve my loyalty
I’m not the cure for your ennui
You’re not the boss of me
You walk around obnoxiously
In your heart there’s cruelty
Spewing comments begrudgingly
Everyone deserves their dignity
You’re not the boss of me

We are happy to let you know that you have qualified for a $500,000 new house free of charge,
Said a computerized voice when I answered my phone.
No thank you, I say, and I click the receiver.
Brrrrinnnnnnggggg.
Did you just hang up on me? A monotone computer voice asks me.
Amazing!
I hang up the phone.
Brrrrinnnnnnggggg.
The robotic voice says sternly, “I have reported you to the Technological Society. Police will be arriving.”
What?
I laugh and hang up.
The officers are at my door in seconds.
“Are you prejudiced against computers?” Officer Sternly asks me.
No.
“Did you hang up on one?”
Yes.
“Why?”
The computer swore at me, I tell him.
A total lie, but I doubt this is going any farther.
So now the computers have more rights than I do in my own home?
Just when I thought things could not get any more ridiculous!
To add insult to injury, my sister-in-law got the free $500,000 house.
J-ust paint the wound with care
U-ntil the heartaches end;
N-ever rub salt into the cut, it's not too late to mend.
P-aint the wound with care,
A-s you reform the damage;
N-ever add insult to injury,
U-nderstand the pain's message.
G-ash February seventeenth is just due for repair;
A-llow your hands of concern to paint the wound with care.
Billy the penguin went to the dentist
because he didn't take care of his teeth,
All brown and yellow like a fungal growth on your feet!
Billy was always snappy and chatty,
he loved to interrupt,
Now he felt punished after years of making
the tooth fairy bankrupt.
Inside the waiting room the tick tock
of the clock got louder and louder,
Each passing second was a pitiful reminder
that Billy was going to face a life without gnashers
And oh how he loved his mother's rashers.
He sobbed.
The dentist called his name.
With each mortal footstep an imprint of shame and pain
ohhhhh Billy had no one else to blame.
You're a horse with an idiot paint job,
all zig-zaggy blacketty-white
you stand out when you're in a snowdrift
and can't even hide in the night.
Outrunning a Cheetah you canna
not graceful like any Gazelle
for living out on the Savanna
your life must be probably hell.
I once tried your flesh on Safari
at a camp where we had barbecue
so to add insult to injury
ugly Warthog tastes better than you.

her cold crimson corpse
into the heart that loved him . . .
he now twists the knife
