Premium Member Zoltar Speaks

Gold turban and dark eyes that stare
He soon caught my eye at the fair.
His white gazing ball
held answers for all-
At once, I was caught in his glare!

Voltar was his mystical name.
For years, he's held carnival fame.
Now set to comply
On faith would rely
To play his miraculous game.

I placed my three bucks in the slot-
Find out what he thinks, good or not.
His words startled me,
Though he spoke softly
On something I never forgot!

He knew I had lost my heartthrob;
At that point, I felt I could sob.
A card then slipped out
My fortune, no doubt?
No! Asks for five bucks- I feel robbed!

How silly of me to believe
His fortune could soothe and relieve!
Goodbye, Zoltar- fear
You made your act clear.
Just empty words, I did receive!

Hide of Tyke in Hold

Heartthrob in damsel drag
Belief of human bile
Completely instilling cascading dregs of mechanical flesh, bones and spit
64th avenue
And coiling deft doom
Winged balls of bulging blood and speckled steel
Merry wails and flutters of moths unsealed
Fitted upon falling kneel
And reckoned release of rotten roadkill-
Rats and babes and brats
Congealed candy and sickeningly sweet brandy
And hailed light of epiphany to choke, swallow and spit
And strangle without a hand nor handle but grit
Of groil and crevices of menaces heralding honed notes
And a lone liver in fathered infirmary
Black backed in breachers
Potted a bulge to indulge the fickle maggots of dissociation
Emulsification and hearty sniff of
Whitened slice and slithers of snow
Dregs to drag and hone and throw
Up upon bedded saline laden road
Of rows and rows and pounds
That drag rotten flesh afresh from the hound
Sutured from spine to fluttered wing
The hide
Plucked apart from rat to brat
And collared collier stepped afresh with new hide and throw
And stubborn stubbled child with a new mind in tow

My kiss whispers love on your lips

My arms are strong enough to break your fall.
As you float in my arms, in gentle grips,
You’ll be held safe, and free from any thrall.
My kiss will whisper love upon your lips.

We will be free from the world's distraction,
Our hearts will never again have to cry,
Your love will just be my sole attraction.
You'll be my heartthrob, and I'll be your guy.

But if you allow lies to unbind us,
There’s a depth down there awaiting your crash,
I promise I won’t have to raise a fuss.
Your fall would satisfy more than a clash.

My fear is the beauty glow on your face,
For love undone, doubts might one day replace.

A Tribute To Senses

We eulogize our parents, kneel before teachers,
Pay obeisance to idols, and praise every benefactor...
Write poetry on our love, lyrics to our heartthrob,
Elegies in the heartache and play Endymion for a Selene,
Making rainbows out of our pale inane existence.
But when it comes to thanksgiving, some never figure on our list,
And of the few, we are prudent, tongue-tied, and grossly inadequate.

Connate with this corpus from conception
Oh my senses and sensors! You have made me what I am.
But for you I would never have travelled the distances I had,
Nor perceived and indulged in this spectacular world!
Oh, me!
It grieves to leave, yet a new stint is equally tempting.
And before I am dragged out of this housing reluctantly
And watch dumbly, you being impaled and consigned
Let me thank you with all my heart,
Dear senses and dear limbs!
And as a tribute to you, dear frame,
I shall leave behind ... the name!

Premium Member Canary in a Coal Mine

She wandered like a gypsy to Wyoming,
Where she settled in and sojourned for a spell.
She found herself a billet at the Hog Ranch,
And son, there weren’t no high-tone clientele.
It was just a soiled dove’s privy crib
Where Martha Jane set up her chicken coop.
She was a cowhand’s heartthrob,
All buckskin and sutler whiskey.
She could drive a team of oxen.
She could drive a man to sin.
Times she frequented Old Bedlam,
Drillin’ with them soldier boys;
Some were galvanized Yankees,
Some were mere tenderfoot lads.
When she wasn’t barkin’ at a knot,
She’d be somewhere raisin’ sand.
She considered each calamity
That buggered her contentment
As just another maverick to brand.

Premium Member When Grief Knocks At Your Door

When you are shaken to your core
and old man grief knocks at your door.
Life feels as if a storm passed through,
and left you feeling numb and blue.

Whether caused by a loss of job
or one who was a dear heartthrob,
or loved ones who are laid to rest,
Grief is a never-welcomed guest.

Grief may come when we least expect,
and in our soul his tent erect.
How long he stays depends on you,
dealing with him could bless you too.

Frequently we are given the time,
to prepare for the painful climb
out of the hole, our losses leave,
thus causing our souls to grieve.

Failure to grieve compounds the pain,
Increases stress and mental strain.
Eventually, your brain will snap,
making you flip and blow your cap.

Please do not be afraid of grief.
Ask God to strengthen your belief.
Let Him walk with you through the pain.
In the end, you will reap great gain.

The next time grief knocks at your door,
think of it as a common chore.
If you work through it to the end
your wounded heart your God will mend.

O life, in plasma form! O red stream in my veins!
Cells, platelets, tissues, fibers, water, and salts wrapped!
O, you who carry oxygen to my each cell!
O, you who maintain minute warmth of my body!
O, you who clean my body's Carbon Di Oxide!
O, you who heal instantly inner injuries!
Sopping up and transferring dietary stuffs,
From peptic canal to my tissues constantly;
Pulsating my physique heartthrob incessantly,
O, you who keep me alive, alert, and active...!
Entwined with beliefs, rites and rituals vast,
My ancestors and descendants you bind steadfast;
You establish relationships based on your flow,
Fuse father, mother, brothers, and sisters in row...!!!

Premium Member Back To School

It’s time to go back to school
For me that’s fine and cool
Student's life is so much fun
I’ll be receiving my daily allowance

Truly, I’m so excited
I can see again my crush, Ted
So eager to see his cute smiles around
While playing basketball on the ground

He’s a real heartthrob of our campus
He’s girls’ number one choice
Wish, he’ll notice me this time
Now, that I’ve written a short rhyme

Mom and I are going to a department store
To buy my notebooks, uniforms and many more
I think I’ll better add one lipstick
For my pale lips, quite thick

Premium Member My Dream Vacation

About Venetian charms I heard a lot -
City on the water, how cool, I thought.
I hoped I would explore that unique place
And chat up the gondolier, face-to-face.

The one, who holds the most amorous job
(No wonder, he could pass for a heartthrob),
Rowing for couples in love does impart
On his demeanour if not on his heart.

In middle age crisis I finally did!
Travelled to Venice, dreamt of as a kid -
Not as a girlfriend, or lover, or bride -
A wife who wished for a gondola ride.

My hubby, my old shoe, who tagged along,
Hummed sweetly to « Besame Mucho » song;
It felt we were on a perfect first date,
Visiting Venice is never too late.

Sweet memories, perhaps not quite discreet,
Enthroned forever on our toilet seat.

This Picture Ain'T Pretty

She ain’t the belle of the ball anymore
She’s not the picture
hanging on the wall
	               behind every dorm door

Miss Best Beauty
is no longer
the fave social media queen

That short-temper smile
don’t enamel contrite
		    gleam supreme

The autumn reign was semester short
as a mid-summer moonbeam

She’s not the hookah heartthrob
of every palpitating Y eye
		testosterone dream

On the cute campus dance floor,
she curvy ain’t
the belle of the homecoming ball anymore

Hash tag splash
some ugly meme paint
This picture ain’t pretty
lipstick quaint

Give a kiss of death
to the hip flirtatious pledge darling
Professed Valkyrie
of TA many e-z Y conquest

Peer voted Super Hottie Best,
this belle had a novocaine, nosedive ring
Got a bosom pain degree,
false vows in the pleasure chest

Silver tongue hourglass-shape laid:
Tainted palette promises on a circular chime
	    Her pulse fade
is a wrinkled tick-tock portrait

To no acne avail,
pouty pigment
don’t age pageant well

Pretty poor fall from grace
was her
diva dropout farewell

Bonaparte

He that trod upon subservient Europe
with the imperial guards' fighting prowess,
did himself and his heartthrob the empress,
entrench thrones jointly owned by their hookup.
He that caused guns to rage on Europe's plains,
and cannons to thunder on Egypt's sands,
sent hussars and mamluks to distant flight.
He usurped crowns for his dear siblings' gains,
and enthroned loyalists to head vanquished lands.
But was banished for good from France's sight
after a stunning loss on Belgium's plains.

Premium Member Thoughts of a Tired Toyota

You think all I ever need is a full tank of gas
But my old fenders and taillight need repair
I grow weary of the way people stop and stare
Whenever I sputter and belch as we pass.

No proper chick will ride in my torn front seat
The evening was a total waste of my time
I should not complain, it was not on my dime
But, please, could you turn down the beat?

I’d hoped we might run into swell-built Christine
With the high-end Chrysler rear-end jack job
But you persist thinking you are the real heartthrob
While neither of us approaches being pristine.

You might grow into a reasonably handsome hunk
And luck out with a good job, two gals on your arms
Do not worry about me, I won’t sound any alarms
By then I’ll be only the remains of this pile of junk!

Dulcinea

My buttercup bewitched me evermore
Those mesmerising eyes of a gazelle
Celestial cerulean 'amore'
Enamoured I'm by my breathtaking belle

I prize the bonny sunshine of my heart
She's my pulchritudinous 'querido'
Catalyst of my Parnassian art
She's like a splendiferous soignée doe

The moon can't compete with my 'priyatham'
The sun shivers at her angelic touch
Together we're in resplendent rhythm
She is a noticeable nymph nonesuch

My summer's entranced by 'dulcinea'
Forever we're entwined, she's my 'jiya'
