I do not heal as when I was young—
Time has slowed its gentle hands,
And left me in a hush of dusk,
With brittle bones and shifting sands.

The skies I once believed would stay
Have wept their stars and turned away,
And I—still dreaming—drift between

Pines and purrs for a stray cat so very lost
Their souls ache with delight
Through the screen door at night
A true love forbidden at a heartbreaking cost

Mobile ring tones at morning light,
disturb the shapes under covers,
the outlined echoes of last night,
two star-crossed microphone lovers,
drawn from opposite ends of town,
yesterday’s pub entertainers,
way on down at the Old Three Crowns,
they met singing Gloria Gaynor, 
ramped and amped with emotion,
to songs that belonged in the haze,
now wake to face their commotion,
the music of separate

How could our love have been so strong
And yet also seemingly so wrong.

Two ships crossed

eyes met
faces lit up
in expectancy 
but the distance
between head and heart
could not be bridged
innocence wept
gifted moment lost
for now ethereal vibrations 
recognising oneness
remain barren
denied the caress
of love sublime by touch

       Such deep, impassioned, love
       startles our mortal ways.
       Could we possibly have that
       same eternal love?

Muddrocker Crossed Reindeers' Picket Line

Muddrocker, the moose, crossed the reindeer’s picket line
He’ll be okay, father reassured mother, he’ll be fine.
Dasher and Vixen wanted to scratch out Muddrocker’s eyes.
Santa was thrilled to see him on Christmas Eve, no big surprise.

Reindeer were pouting and snorting as sleigh drove away.
Santa realized he needed no more reindeer on this sacred day.
