Notes About The Poem

WITH FINGERS CROSSED

With fingers crossed, he rewrites his disjointed plot,
the struggling novelist who edits as he prays.
Each character he births is and is not~
half ink, half ghost, half-truth he can’t quite phrase.

He pulls a thread of meaning; shadows lean,
waiting to see which version he’ll allow.
They move as if the margins intervene,
as if unwritten grace could shape them now.

Yet in his hands, the draft begins to breathe~
a fragile faith disguised as narrative.
He knows the lies his metaphors bequeathe,
the hopes his careful sentences outlive.

Something stirs and answers in the stilled air,
as if it’s God who leans in to meet his prayer

Beautiful poetry expressing the despair and hope of an artist. He hopes his draft will soon breathe, even if he is uncertain of the repercussions of his quest. Sara, Congratulations on your winning placement

Lovely poem depicting the angst and hopes in the mind of a creative artist. Though he is not sure of the results of his attempt, he has hopeful anticipation and he believes that his draft will begin to breathe soon. Congratulations dear Sara on your great win with this lovely sonnet.

It's obvious you know much about the process of creating. L3 I think it's verb 'birthes' with an e?
