With Fingers Crossed

Fingers crossed I pray each day we’ll wake up To another blessed day, the two of us The years have passed by at marathon speed So many mountains climbed, me as cheerlead. I don’t forget the day you came this way When my world lit up with musical sway We’ve survived many ups, numerous downs Have ridden multiple merry-go-rounds. It wasn’t easy, when your health issues appeared And many days where spent in floods of tears Struggling to carry on, with fear in heart Hoping that we would walk out of the dark. So I pray with fingers crossed every night That we wake together and all is right.

Who hasn't had health issues? I feel one foot in the grave, and I had a fight with my cardiologist as she wanted to increase my medication. Clever poem and best wishes for your entry.

We’ve all had health issues, I walked in pain from the age of twelve, till I had my knee replaced aged 52, hip replaced at 54. I know everyone has their crosses to bare, I sympathise with you and all. Thank you Victor… Beryl

Thank you Silent One, my husband became very ill at age 29, he’s now 81. He had major surgery at the time and has a lot to deal with. But he’s managed very well, without complaint. In fact he’s a walking miracle with what he has to put up with… Beryl

A verse from the heart Beryl, life presents many challenges as we get on in years. Hope you're both doing ok. Tom

Thank you Tom, yes life does present many challenges the older we get. Yet we have to make the best of today and the future ahead. We’re doing ok, hope you and yours are too… Beryl

Dear Beryl, this one went straight to the chest. You wrote it with such truth, the kind that only comes from living the miles, not imagining them. What moved me most was the tenderness in your voice. Even in the hard parts, there’s this steady love running underneath every line. That last couplet is simple, hopeful, real, just beautiful. So much heart! Blessings, Daniel

Thank you dear Daniel, yes every word is true, we have had so much to deal with it beggars belief. Yet we’re still here to tell the tale, facing each day with hope in our hearts. Blessings in return… Beryl

Thank you Deb, I appreciate your kind comments on this poem, It was emotional for me too, writing the poem brought back memories of what we have been through, and still do. However there’s still light in our days, for which we have to sing in praise… Beryl
