Don't call me when you're driving

Don’t call me when you’re driving
Any text I sent can wait
Leave it ‘til you’re parked up
(Even if you’re running late)

You’re excused for not responding
You can break any other rule
Cause shenanigans and mayhem
Create havoc, it’s all cool

Pranks, arson, theft or lies
I’d forgive anything you do
You’re off the hook, no question
Just because you’re you

Get up to mischief all day long
I’ll forgive your sass, I swear
But don’t you call me when you’re driving.
I mean it. Don’t you dare.

Premium Member The Epics of HOX and POX

My brain is racked!
Beside me, a tower of comic books is stacked -
House of X and Powers of X, fresh from the Box -
the epic stories of HOX and POX.
Inside my head, I feel an awful pain -
if I only had a mutant brain!
Then I could read and understand
the story of Krakoa island -
but then, humans will never cease
to war against mutants, and let them live in peace.
So, if I were a mutant, I wouldn't admit it,
and if you think I'm one, please forget it.
Let's just say, I'll put these words in code,
so Nimrod won't catch me on the mutant road,
a path of water on the sea,
to Krakoa, the place that's meant for me.
One day our people will learn to live again,
and keep all our memories and then
mutants like me will all be off the hook
cuz we'll remember every comic book.

Maybe the best is AB

Not a text book relic

Poetic look esoteric

Record book cleric

Off the hook balletic

Mesmeric cook aesthetic

Cranny & nook prophetic

Canny crook stratospheric

Which is why may be

Sitting top of the tree

The Saffa Gaffer

With a higher ABV

In formats all three

Above possibly Kohli

Greatest I did see

For me is probably A.B

Premium Member I Promise I'm ,not, OK

I would like to apologize
I know I’ve been distant
But I’m struggling
I hate this
It’s like I woke up one day
Missing myself
I never looked though
I just gave up
That wasn’t a hard choice
I felt tired
I’ll look when I get some sleep
Liar.
I said I’ll look
And I promise I will
Or maybe I’ll convince myself otherwise
I know I’m holding on still
So there’s no rush to search
When I’m still here
Well, kind of
Actually I think I’m far from near
I broke another promise
I never went to bed
I stayed up all night
Reminiscing in my head
Because why close my eyes
When I could stay awake
Thinking about things that make me sad
Things that make me break
I have an idea
I could go to sleep
Give myself a nice break
Finally get some peace
That could work
But I’m not
I feel like I don’t have any want
The want to get out of this spot
I say I do
I think that’s a lie
I know that it is
I don’t know why
I guess I’ll let you know
If I want to go look
Because I’m ok being incomplete
If saying I’m ok gets me off the hook

A Tale of Buffoonery

Have you seen a better fool like me?
A dimwitted dreary buffoon like me?
Buffoonery has its limits, ridiculous,
But for me it's monotonous.
I never change,
I'm always the same, It's such a shallow shame!
Yes, I am the one to blame.

I see politeness wearing
A fancy pair of friendship earrings.
Who does that? An acrobat, a bubbly brat!
Who thinks that a polite chat
Is a friendship, this and that.
Then when people change
And they cut me out of their range,
I feel sadly strange.

When am I going to learn
And stop feeling the burn,
Stop making politeness turn
Into a glib friendship that's not even worth an earn.

Buffoon's bubbly balloon
Should be popped,
Buffoon should be stopped.

I am an open book,
Oops, a buffoon brook,
It's time for a new look,
And get myself off the hook.

Victims

The dainty walk of Chinese women
beyond the Wall in olden days
was due to cruel and unusual punishment
confined and constrained by strange customary ways
victims of fashion prisoners of fad
small feet were in sadly big were bad
forced to wear a pair of lotus shoes
very small baby steps were all they took
altho' it wasn't until 1912 or so
when the girls were finally let off the hook
back then 'pon seeing his new-born daughter
especially when she cried
a Chinaman was bound to say
'Those toes are fit to be tied.'

The Evidence

When asked if he toked the evil weed,
William Jefferson Clinton (né?Blythe III),
aka, Bill Clinton, we heard, did indeed,
if not totally beyond the pale
these words he spoke,
"I smoked but didn’t inhale,"
and altho' with no proof, yet by the book,
with that he was off the hook.

Then came Monica Lewinsky,
their relationship he lied to hide,
accused with obstruction of justice,
for him to be impeachment-free,
with the mess all down her dress,
the chain of evidence was there to follow,
of the fateful day Bill only had to say,
"She sucked but didn't swallow."

Premium Member Reading

I play with sunbeams and my friend
until these moments come to end.
Again my open book will send
me to the places of world's end.

When day is done and last page read,
I go to pillow and to bed.
Dreams to daylight as night is shed
and I to bright, new places led.

When night has come, I'm off the hook
and I'll return to read my book.
Looking forward to cozy nook,
serious words, some gobbledygook.

Premium Member A Dime in His Pocket

   A dime in his pocket
     hope in his heart
Just his clothes on his back
but he’d make a new start

   Constricted at home
     he took to the road
   Foraged for food
     yet upright he strode

   Three days and two nights
     of this, all it took
For him to come home ~
let mom and dad off the hook

Premium Member My mushy muse

I’m a dead muse walking, stuck in a queue
moving along slowly, spreading out too
A worm wriggles past, looking worse for wear
was caught in a hailstorm, guts everywhere

I'm a dead muse crawling, stuck fast in glue
caught up with the worm, he leaked so much goo
We're neck and neck, near the exit gate
I patch up his wounds, then use him for bait

I'm a dead muse fishing, snagging old reeds
the worm's in awful shape, each segment bleeds
I let him off the hook, just to take a rest
he looks juicy, but in truth not the best

I'm a dead muse starving, no appetite
can't find a stanza never mind a bite
And that poor li’l wiggler, I let him go
into the hailstorm, oops no, stupid crow!

Grandma burns the food and is no cook
She needs to stick to reading a book
Fire covers the turkey
It tastes like beef jerky
Paula brought food we are off the hook

Honorary Dad Later On Reply

Our my Schade

As recently as this

Father's Day Sunday

Sent me a message

Saying to my

Honorary Dad

Although I don't and am unable
to say it

I hope you know you are my
Honorary Dad

And because of our family history

I instantaneously both assumed and
also presumed

She was indeed in fact obviously
talking about my father her grandad

She looked after when he was dying

And she was a very young child

And as our conversation gradually
continued

She later and myself also said

Life is pretty simple its mostly all about

Paying attention and listening

And case in point I unfortunately

Provided her with undeniable proof

That I sadly myself whilst talking
a good game was not

Because when it comes to me

I quite obviously have a blind spot

But that does not get me off the hook

Or is in any way or form

A valid or genuine

Excuse

If anything it just proves

The point

I am no more better

But should as obviously does expect

Than from her own Dad

Off the Hook

My dreams are often troubled by useless things.
A land-line clicks on and off repeatedly
the dreamless are phoning me.
long disused.

I found a kitten in the cold winter woods
it died while I drove it to the shelter.
My intervention was just another path
to its end.

I want an old record turntable,
I miss the revolutions,
how the 33rpm vinyl slow-spins,
how you can read the record label
from the bottom of a whisky glass.

A phone hums-on in my head.
static, white noise – who can say?
This I know
there is no shelter in this world.

Premium Member It Seems To Be Snowing

It seems to be snowing but it’s aphids.
They look like cotton or dandelion fluff.
You wouldn’t want them on your lashes.
They cling to grass, screens & other stuff.

You wouldn’t think aphids are alive, ‘til
you take a closer look - they unhook
and fly away, like the great hymn. Still,
I first saw them at Dad’s. They’re off the hook.

On plants, ladybugs enjoy them as a snack.
Oh no! Pesticide is sometimes needed when
aphids gather in great numbers and unpack.
To memorialize them, I scribble with a poet’s pen.

Bad Victims

I am Freaking the F+!K OUT!
Off the hook look out I shout
Straight eyes laced with buckets of doubt
Trying to figure out what you're all about
Blood pressure high as a kite
Paranoid look left, look right
Dumbfounded your look shining not so bright
You picked the wrong victim tonight
Double backed behind a wall I hide
Me and my girl die or ride
As you pass we step by your side
The rest is a story off how you died

Bye...Bye...
