   The world as I see it travel by.

   People who catch my view.
   Caught in pictures,
   Expressions I knew.

   Places of interest.
   Seen while visiting,
   Areas

Travel

Being yourself
In a foreign land
Is to leave old shoes
And counterpane

Take a risk
Among new friends
To discover Earth
Through shared lens

Allow that light
To overwhelm
The journey forward
And back again

Isolated in Crowded Places

If life is a party--
I stay halfway in the doorway
half-hoping nobody notices me
half-wishing somebody does

The question, is it really having fun
when one has to force it so much?

If I would’ve just stayed home
the comfort of my own bubble
I wouldn’t have to sweat beneath 
this mask of confidence

Phoenix Arizona

I have some fruit trees in my backyard. 
Cooler dawns we ripely say hello, sweet
and sour occasions~ the lemons you know.

With a little cooperation, fertilizer, a bit
more water when dry, I find mostly sand can
be quite agreeable, even in a desert.

Aglow

You may missed it, but you are
incandescently alive; a shooting star
at dusk-colored sky. Falling

into the atmosphere, first contact of
fresh air. Friction
wears you armor in blazing flame, highlight—
In the star-sown space, you
a knight descending into this earth
on your loyal mount that is
you, and stardust from unnamed planets
that you once drifted among
aimlessly—until inevitably gravity
from this earth hooked

Carousel Ride

the clock strikes dusk 
the sun fades away
a thousand golden lights blinks 
to set the scene on fire

crowds carouse
for the merry-go-round
that bright crown of the carnival night

under that picturesque parasol
children clamber up the golden saddles
atop alabaster rides 
galloping through infinity

then drums snare with cymbals 
while clarinets and woodwinds shriek
in jubilant symphony

laughter jingle 
as the circle

Carnival Lights

Beneath the sky’s deep purple hue,
Music calls, the laughter too;
Wheels turn slow, the lights all spin,
And pull us gently further in.

The air smells sweet with candy threads,
With buttered corn and warm baked breads;
A carousel of painted dreams,
It ripples on the moonlit streams.

I watch your eyes in neon glow,
They shine in ways you may not know;

Come be merry 
on the streets of the French quarter.
Come be merry,
plum liqueur and praline whiskey.
We’re the oldest brick and mortar,

Mr Softy

The Illinois emperor favors no bail for the violent
he's a softy in the middle and more so on crime
From his bullhorn pulpit he proclaims that we're safe
I'm afraid the land of Lincoln is made of paper mâché.

He lives in a crystal bubble in a billionaire's den 
with state-of-the-art, impenetrable defenses.
