Cinnamon whispers,
golden crumbs cling to my lips~
brandied cherries laugh.
Fruitcake, dense with Christmas joy,
melts like stolen midnight sun.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The fruitcake arrives—dense, unapologetic~
a brick of candied citron and drunken cherries,
dark with molasses and stubborn pride.
It defies time.
Mock it in December,
find it unchanged in June.
A relic? No~
a survivor.
Each bite a defiance of decay,
proof that some things grow richer with neglect.
You may say I'm crazy
but as it takes one to know one
do you have what I've got
if I am are you too
and am I nuts to think I'm not
the shrink he's not telling
despite all my yelling
he only asks how it makes me feel
it's quite a strain on the brain
is he really and truly for real
then again if I'm insane
as the earth is bipolar
it's no wonder
there are so many weirdos and whackos
in a world torn asunder
at least I'm not alone
I think you'll find
it can't be overstated it's overrated
sanity
it's all in the mind
Fruit in every bite.
From love to hate with this treat in sight.
Flavorful as you open it up each night.
Funky by some standards don't take flight.
Fall brings it in for Christmas with pretty lights.
Fancy nuts make it crunchy with delight.
Famous worldwide satisfying many an appetite.
When confused or excited,
Phil chatters inanely.
When he’s irked, he’s not placid;
He gestures insanely.
When he’s full of strange antics,
some folks won’t go near him.
He just gets on their last nerve--
no reason to fear him.
When he makes wild suggestions,
his family get surly,
and his friends are disparaging:
“Phil, don’t be squirrelly!”
They think Phil’s such a fruitcake,
a loser, a dummy.
He would show them all. He'd make
creations so yummy.
When this loser got famous,
they all were astounded.
A great fruit cake company
old nutty Phil founded!
His old critics are huge fans,
rating his cakes "superior.”
They recall when they all thought
Phil was so inferior.

Fruitcake
Familiar cake it be
For gift to bring to thee
Forlorn it sits at tea
For none will taste but me
Fear not my special treat
Forget what others eat
For me you’re noncompete!
Fabulous ice box ease
Fruit dried, sticky so sweet
Folded into Graham's
Famous brown cracker crumbs
Finely chopped nuts~yum! yum!
Famished come visit, stay
Fainthearted go away
Use sweetened condensed milk as a binder
Place a sheet of waxed paper into the Graham Cracker box
place the mixed ingredients into the box to form a rectangle
cover tightly with some type of cling wrap and let set up in
the refrigerator for at least overnight..
You can add~~ marshmallows(miniture ones), maraschino cherries with some of their liquid if a can of condensed milk isn't enough to moisten the crackers..You can use raisins, or other dried fruits if you like..I use those dried candied pineapple and cherries available at Christmas so it will be very colorful..Originally I used Brazil Nuts for the nuts and it does add a very nice flavor..It needs a cup of nuts, about two cups of the dried fruits..

Frosty cream top- a real,
family TRADITION.

Fruitcake, oh no! I don't like
I'd rather give it to Mike.
Fruitcake tastes to me more than bad
If you give me one I'd get very mad.
Fruitcakes are not really fun you see
So please don't send one to me.
Fruitcakes tastes like a nasty piece of rubber
Just thinking of them makes me shout and shudder.

Glimpse a fond treat, glimpse a fine bake;
Reach with warm smile, reach with fine draft;
Add more to wheat, add fruits to stake;
Now passion styles, now purpose crafts.
Design a cake, design a voice;
Fruitcake appeals, fruitcake reveals;
Rich techniques make, rich liquor poise;
Urge brandy's will, urge bounty's fill.
Indulge fine taste, indulge fond feel;
Trust in good tense, trust in clear touch;
Charm claims more haste, charm cheers sure thrill;
Align sweet sense, align good nudge.
Keep treasures neat, keep pleasures here;
Eat fruitcake treat, eat sculptured cheer.
