Contest Description

This is part five of the Easter Series for those competing for the multi-gemstone cross pendant.  This “green” contest also has its own prizes, most of which are green or multi-color.

Please submit one 10 to 15-line humorous poem, on the theme "Green."  It can be a new or old poem, as long as it wasn't previously entered in my contests.  Any interpretation of green is acceptable, including but not limited green energy, spring green, little green men (aliens), being green with envy, being inexperienced ("green"), the “green mile” in prisons, immigrants' "green cards," etc.  Creative use of the theme is encouraged and the quality of humor will be a major factor in judging.  Spelling, grammar and adherence to your chosen form will also be considered..

Forms (Please write in one of these forms):

Your 10 to 15-line humorous entries may be double or triple limericks, sonnets, couplets, quatrains, quintains or other rhyme forms.  No free verse this time.  Please do not use any forms that have repeating lines.

Limericks - If you choose to write a double or triple limerick, make sure lines 1,2 and 5 of each verse have the same number of syllables (7-10) and rhyme with each other.  Lines 3 and 4 should have the same number of syllables (5-7) and rhyme with each other.  Meter may help boost your placement, but it is not required.

Sonnets - If you choose to submit a sonnet, be sure it has 10 syllables per line (preferably written in iambic pentameter) and follows the ABAB, CDCD, EFEF, GG rhyme pattern.

Other Rhyme Forms - Couplets, Quintains and other rhyme forms are acceptable.

Prizes:

This is part five of the Easter Series, but this contest has its own green jewelry and other prizes for the first-place winner(s).

Points earned in this contest will also go toward the Easter Series' grand prize - a multi-gemstone cross pendant that is is about two inches tall and contains Peridot, Garnet, Amethyst and Citrine gemstones.  I've recorded your points on a spreadsheet.

Contest Updates:

If entries appear to be coming in using the wrong form or having other problems, I will note that in updates on this contest description page, so please check back.  I want to judge blindly, so I won’t be sending notifications to those whose poems need editing.

Take your time and have fun!

Below are some of this contest's prizes, Russian Diopside earrings, a green onyx bracelet with matching earrings and a green onyx heart necklace.  There are also some pretty glass angels that have LED lights inside so they glow and can serve as night lights that come in pairs as shown below.  The angels are fragile and can't be mailed safely internationally.:
