Truffles were Catered

Legato she knows me
To which both the sky
and earth shall make
The day beautiful for
her arrival.
Remembering to put
Garlic oil in the repellent
And to add garlic to the
Cheesy spread.
A perfection is what they
we're aiming for.

I feel too much

my mother says I feel too much
like it is a flaw

like love
should be measured
With teaspoons
not oceans

She cannot understand
how I carry entire skies
Inside my ribs
And call it

Living

Premium Member GRANNY'S KITCHEN TABLE

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
She measured flour in cupped hands,
never teaspoons or scales~
just the way her mother taught her,
back when the world was softer.
Her fingers, knotted with time,
stirred stories into batter,
each wrinkle a sentence,
each scar a footnote.
The table wobbled,
one leg shorter than the rest,
but she never fixed it.
It’s like us, she’d say,
a little uneven, but it holds.
Now, when I press my palm
into bread dough,
I feel her pulse beneath mine,
a ghost-knead,
a whisper of flour and sweat
and something like love.
The table sits empty now,
but sometimes,
if I listen,
it still creaks
under the weight of her laughter.
Premium Member CONFESSIONAL IN THE AISLE OF A DOLLAR STORE
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The fluorescent buzz hums
like a choir of tired angels.
I hold a plastic-wrapped loaf of bread
and think about miracles~
how mine don’t quite materialize.

My hands, soft from keyboards,
have never split a sea
or pressed into a wound
without recoiling.
I flinch at the sight of blood and
the weight of my own shadow.

The clerk sighs,
counting pennies like regrets.
I want to tell her that
the Kingdom is hers,
but my voice cracks
into something small
and human.

At home, my love
is measured in teaspoons~
just enough to sweeten,
never overflowing.
I keep my rage
neatly folded,
my mercy rationed
like discount wine.

God must get so tired
of my arithmetic.

Premium Member Haiku Cupcake

 A haiku cupcake is easy to make
 With a few ingredients, you're ready to bake
 Use ingredients that are pure
 For a delicious taste for sure

 Five teaspoons of sugar without any rhyme
 This will work every time
 Repeat this in the third line
 and your cupcake will be fine

With nature as your theme
 Add some flour, pour in some cream
 With a dash of vanilla extract in the 2nd line
 Stir in 7 syllables for a taste divine

  Now put it in the oven at 350 degrees
 Making this cupcake is a breeze
 Remove it in a short while
 Top it off with icing if that's your style

Premium Member Do Not Forget Good Listening Skills

Start with more than one pinch of small-town Iowa mischief
Sixty-five cups of empathy
Fifty cups of understanding
Thirty cups of honesty
Stir until they are milky and comfortably pudding-like
Add a half a pound of trustworthiness
Set aside for an hour, maybe chill in the refrigerator
In a second bowl sift together
Three cups of common sense
Two cups of wonder
And a cup of sweetness
Combine them and drop by teaspoons full on a cookie sheet
bake in an easy-bake oven for ten minutes at three-fifty
Oops I forgot to add good listening skills.
You may dollop them on the top after the cookies cool
Then share the cookies with your neighbors, family and friends

TEA PARTY

TEA PARTY

Two little girls, enjoying tea
Happy, as they wanted to be
As a tea party the table’s laid
From the tiny cups, little sips
Pretending, with pursed lips
A special play date is made

Fairy cakes on a plastic plate
Even the decoration is great
Teaspoons rattling in the cup
And playing joyfully together
Both are best friends forever
Like adults, but not made up

Premium Member Ridiculous Riddles Trimeric

Rip currents of ridiculous riddles
wet the chops of ink and parchment;
A poet enjoys tea and berry jam-tarts,
her pen tremors ‘We’re all mad here.’

Wet the chops of ink and parchment,
visit the tempestuous Queen of Hearts;
Feed your mind, milk her rose garden;

A poet enjoys tea and berry jam-tarts
drifting off into a golden afternoon;
Teaspoons paddle a sea of nonsense;

Her pen tremors ‘We’re all mad here.
Stop the infected pocket watch!
To write you must live in the moment.’
