two silver spoons,
two completely different people
tied together by children, marriage,
divorce
they shared a home
two decades of life
and then nothing
just children; bound by blood,
broken by each other
they’re in the same room, fingers brushing as they pass each other banners to stick on the walls
i was the first born
the first broken
but the last to arrive at the party
i decorated the cake with him,
putting our beliefs aside to decide where to place the candles
aligned with my mother
but stood with him while she’s in the other room
i was in the middle of every fight
sometimes the cause
but i didn’t choose to be born
so i decorate this cake
two metres from us sit the room i try to forget
we form a circle and talk about our addictions
what we lost
who we lost
i lost my father
and i lost myself
one long before the other
i just can’t figure out who
he has no idea these thoughts are in my head
or that locked room has any more meaning to me than just a locked room
so while we agree where to place these candles
i hear the conversations in my head
i was their marriage counsellor; too young,
too under qualified
now i stand with them
one each side of me;
and they smile at each other or maybe through each other and past each others silhouette to the memories of what they once were
they were married
divorced
one drinks tea
another drinks coffee
i measure the sugar
i pour the milk
i have the urge to clean up their cups
maybe because i couldn’t clean up their marriage
i dry the teaspoons and place them away in the drawer
they are so separate now
but today their used tea spoons sit in the same drawer
i cannot have my mother and father together again
they will now stand in the same room, but not for too long
at least i can lay their spoons together to rest

Alarm buzzes, eyes awake and sheets unwillingly ripped off me like a band-aid on a hairy leg.
The air has a taste much like a mix of lavender and vanilla.
I slowly and carefully swing these things I call legs off the bed to meet the floor with a thud.
The floor stabs me with its icy unforgiving surface.
The pain feels like stepping on a bed of nails.
I drag my lifeless body up to my closet, there’s a million suits there.
But nothing to wear.
So, I decide to wear the same suit I wore yesterday.
My boss won’t notice I am wearing the same thing I wore yesterday if I change my tie, right?
The seat at the kitchen table where my wife used to sit is now empty.
It’s been a year since she took her final breath.
The coffee cup our son bought her still sits there waiting to be drank from.
She used to tell me when I made the coffee in the mornings “I want 2.5 creams and 1.5 sugars”
So id round up and put 3 shots cream and 2 teaspoons of sugar in her coffee.
She never did notice the extra sugar or cream.
I finally decide to step outside to face the world.
Upon opening the door, I am greeted with the same icy feel I felt on my feet
This time it unforgivingly slaps me across the face
The front door to what was once my humble abode now has become my own personal hell.
The days of coming home every day to meet my wife at the door are now gone.
What was once my favorite part of the day has now become the most dreadful thing I do.
Instead of sitting down at the kitchen table and eating my wife’s home cooked meals
I sit down at the couch with a can of Rockstar and the remote in hand.
I guess I can say, what kept me going was my wife.
Now that she’s gone, will I ever be able to live a happy life?
Tortoiseshell tulips often grow at left angles to the moon and are otherwise adjusted to a sealed lip of ground. But a curled canopy of shredded wheat and oats make even the wildest of gardens bloom. It is within the great oceanography of a garden pond that a frog captains a lily ship and focusses his attention upon net fly duties. Net fly duties should really be carried out by professional belchers and professional belchers are neither belly flopping divers or baseball beaks. So it is wise to dip ones toe into a glass to test the temperature. Well that's what the mouse said anyway. And the ideological wisdom of mice can be magically pronounced using an abacus. But only at cheese and wine evenings for cheese and wine evenings are shawls and suit occasions that attract the most elitist of the world's largest colony of mussels, prawns, earwigs, lemons, and flower garden eared people who line up to sup the wares of such an expanse of shipments. It is within a glitter ball that a long lost object can be found. Finding favours favourably finished flavours. And a catacomb filled with a million cats is not a basin of porridge jumping over a sealed off bridge. So it is wise to keep to the pavements of the static safety zones. So as to not be ravished, attacked and harmed by the many cotton buds who dance up and down looking for dramas. Didn't the little ant do well today in the gymnastics competition? Yes. And now it is time for the passing of the seven towel rails. Argument over. Good. Thoughts tailored tailoring traditional travelling. And an eavesdropping hawk swooping in a bright pink hat. 1 Tablesoon of fresh rosemary
measure 1 cup

1 cup of milk

------------------------------------------------
1 cup savory milk (recipe above)
1/2 cup (minus 2 Tablespoons) unsalted butter, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
4 teaspoons sugar
1 teaspoon table salt
2 cups of all-purpose flour sifted
8 large eggs whisked in a bowl
In a 3-quart stainless-steel saucier or saucepan, combine water (or milk), butter, sugar (if using), and salt.
et over high and and cook until liquid comes to a rolling boil and butter has fully melted, about 2 minutes (the small butter cubes should be fully melted just about at the same time the liquid hits a strong boil).
Remove from heat and add flour. Using a wooden spoon or stiff silicone spatula, thoroughly mix in flour until no lumps remain make sure to find and squish out out any stubborn one
Return saucepan to medium-high heat and cook, stirring very frequently, until dough registers 175°F (80°C) on an instant-read thermometer; if you don't have a thermometer, other signs the dough is ready include a thin starchy film forming all over the inside of the saucier and the dough pulling together into a cohesive mass.
To use a stand mixer: Transfer dough to a stand mixer fitted with the paddle and beat at medium speed until dough registers 145°F on an instant-read thermometer (you need the dough cool enough that it doesn't cook the eggs when they hit it).

An interesting occurrence begins in a bag of one kilo of frozen peas. Not in a bag of peanuts. Nor in a packet of crisps or chips. Chipolatas agree with this but the soda water states that the occurrence could also occur in a packet of marshmallows for marshmallows were a popular accompaniment to soda and soda shouts so all must listen in lines. But the flour lifted up from a bowl and boomed his disaproval. "The interesting occurrence does indeed begin in a bag of frozen peas". The itemised items thought and the soda gave a haughty look and swirled the straw into the air in disgust. Then the arrival. Jiggling jostling joking jerking jumping. It could only be. The peas. They were given a standing ovation by all the forks. Whose prongs pointed uprightness gave a signal to all cutlery who dashed out of the drawer to join in. The maze that was being created by the peas who had dived out of the packet after loosening the clip was just so difficult. The high hedges formed by the little green balls was just so impossible to see over. But in the middle there was a cleaning cloth. Wow. What an incentive! In the end whilst the forks got lost and tripped over themselves the knives got stuck and the table spoons and dessert spoons gave up. The little teaspoons found the centre and won the cloth. For the second year running. To a roar from the riotous crowd of frosty iced coffee. And clapping from the camomile tea bags. So an interesting occurrence does indeed begin in a bag of frozen peas. 1 2 3 leap then. Z

Cold rains, wet and weary... seeping through the sky,
spectres pass ’long side me... bent, with collars high,
my visions are invisible and no one sees me cry.
Minstrels of destruction... rapping at my door,
naked anvils aching... heavy hammers roar,
their monodies of emptiness pulse, bleeding through the floor.
House of cards collapsing... sagging walls of wax,
deuces in dissension... aces slip through cracks,
the Joker’s lost and lumbers by, alone, along the tracks.
Steeple steps dismantled... muted bells below,
ruins quake and tremble... frozen in the snow,
their pains implode within my brain while pale winds cruelly blow.
Prophets tumble temples... residues of tea
highways of no entrance... paths of destiny,
where phantoms haunt my nightmare dreams, tell tales of roaming free.
Foghorns moaning lonely... waves awash in sound
silver schooner sinking... swirling round and round,
at midnight’s stroke, the mainsail broke, and driftwood drifts aground.
Silent seas misshapen... moonbeams painted rum,
teaspoons sifting ashes... fingers cold and numb,
an incandescent candlestick’s impaled the sinking sun.
Smothered fires smoking... oceans filled with ice,
lightning lashing windows... blades from paradise,
like tongues of limpid laughter licking wounds of sacrifice.
Flowing fields of flowers... silent harmony,
rolling river reveries... washing to the sea,
my love, she was my daylight bliss, she once belonged to me.
