Premium MemberPoetry Soup Poets

I won't pick out one special Poetry Soup poet
None of us are worthy of being a poet Laureate
Choosing just one who has skills shouldn't be a goal
It's like separating a favorite sheep from the foal
Saying its wool has the most beautiful fleece
doesn't seem to be the right way to have peace

There are many poets who write with quality
and if I choose only one, I'd owe an apology
to those I didn't honor by using their name
I don't want to be guilty and won't take the blame
for entering any contest on Poetry Soup
that might hurt someone's feelings in the group

Picking a favorite could cause further division
I don't think alienating any poet is a good decision
Congrats to those who earn it with great writing
No one deserves to be overlooked by slighting
It's my opinion so I have the freedom to say
If peace is to exist in PS, it won't be found this way

Some great poems are written as lyrics to a song
but naming one above the others seems wrong
Tell those you admire by making kind comments
Prevent hurt feelings and ill will before it ferments
Such divisiveness might hurt another poet's heart
It's not pleasant to taste buds, too sour and too tart

Premium MemberGrowing Resilience

Better together
than falling apart.

Inside I sigh
between sad traumas,
mad bad dramas
fading together
when not
not
not thought and felt glad

Better left together
than falling
falling
falling right wing exhausted
apart

Outside we cry
for fair healthy justice
restoring wealth
amongst resilient us,
becoming enlightened
and left-right co-empowered.

Better communion together
healthier together
wealthier yang-strong union
together co-passionate becoming
learning
knowing
feeling yin-flow reunion

Better together
than falling
falling
failing Sun's spirit
reversing Earth's nature,
bright light
slighting shadow showers
of EarthTribe powers,
roots failing
despairing apart

Inside against outside
ego against eco...
apart

Returns better together
better inside together
better outside together
than falling inside
against outside
apart.

Games

Games
A fun seeker’s unfolding thriller
Forced to describe it ‘Time killer’
But it might well be a healer
Of wounds to others no feeler…

Some games with the strictest timing,
Their players chiming clocks minding,
Others to last while no winner,
Continuing as day grows thinner …

Rules of games learnt like the Bible
Slighting them serious like libel.
It should a game discontinue
Against a king with retinue…

Games promote fun but also sense,
As partakers avoid nonsense:
A shout comes last with victory
Through skill luck, also mystery.

Premium MemberWhen the Cannas Droop

This time of the year
when the cannas sadly droop,
Ma is saving kitchen scraps
from recent repasts
for a hearty winter soup,
and decorations go up.

Too early I think
with the Christmas ornaments
for commercial purposes
slighting Halloween
and Thanksgiving gatherings.
I shall complain bitterly.

No one will listen!
Some say I am Mister Scrooge
I can stand only so much
happiness and joy,
cash registers dinging loud
facing the mad shopping crowds.

Each year it gets worse
when the cannas sadly droop,
and Ma saves scraps for the soup
decorating starts,
and I complain bitterly
but no one listens or cares.

Premium MemberSounds of Summer

Sounds of summer invite my good cheer
Chirp, chirp, chirping of the gentle sparrow,
Even the roar of the machines mowing near
The clank of tractors making furrows narrow.
Gentle breezes swishing through sycamore trees
Chatter of red squirrels playing in the breeze.

I hear the mockingbird’s trill in the hedge row
As I stroll through the meadow’s golden hue,
The click of the crickets, a dog’s bark although
My little Jose is gone, making me feel blue.
A cloud overhead drips droplets of warm rain
And I, once again, am in my favorite domain.

A crunch of old leaves beneath my shod feet
On the path to the brook, the babble is inviting,
Sounds of summer make this perfect day complete
Even sizzling sunshine overhead, never slighting!
I am especially happy when my senses are delighted
Frankly, a stroll through the meadow makes me excited.

Premium MemberObliviousness Affliction

Regrettably, you're forswearing considerateness.
Because of your deeds, my heart has been disparaged.
However, the faithful has devolved into the dreadful.
There was nothing but words scribbled on a journal.
It's a sincere pity you're sweepingly slighting kindness.

Placing the underachievers on a dazzling betrayal.
Escape the fierce curse of those who benefited.
If you tamely yield to the glare, he will rebel.
Some people keenly appreciate and admire your skill.
Because of your frailty, some individuals devour you.

Premium MemberSweet Love Lost

A love was born and rapidly grew,
Each thought it would last forever,
But life offers no guarantees,
And humans often fail endeavors.

What appeared to be the dawn of bliss,
Slowly waned; taken for granted,
The best in life can go amiss,
When roots of trust aren’t deeply planted.

Chanced to meet by the meadow’s lake,
Each gazing into teary eyes,
Knowing keenly what was at stake,
Farewell’s last and heartrending goodbyes.

Slighting his kiss, she ran through the lea,
He called to her; she didn’t answer,
He knew it was his final plea,
His heart sinking as she ran faster.

Nothing hurts more than a sweet love lost,
There’re no words to soften the blow,
Nothing demands a higher cost,
Or overwhelms a soul any more.

Premium MemberA Heroin Ever Plasured Delightful-

you find so many people are slighting
But you, you are mostly exciting
ever pleasured delightful

I like the way you seek
Mercy upon the steep
Steep, steep hills you retreat

You find so many people are unhelpful
But you, you are mostly helpful
You come on to the rescue

Of those whom are down trodden
You are a heroin
A female hero delightful

many people are slighting
ever so you are ever, so ever pleasured delightful

Premium MemberMy Little Garden

We met in the garden
one fair, sunny day.
I asked where you’d been
But you would not say.

I asked about news
from beyond the hedges.
I wondered fiercely,
I’d not passed its edges.

I begged and I pleaded
For news from outside
To get answers sought
Tears streaming, you cried.

You told of fighting
And virtual schools,
Racial slighting
And stay-at-home rules.

I’m tempted to stay
With my head in sand
But I want to help
And take a firm stand.

Oh, little garden
Stay safe and grow free
Give me your promise
And remember me.

Vandalizing History
A Miracle Man opinion
6/21/2020

Under social injustice, history is vandalized today,
what started out a peaceful protest, wound up an affray.
Many became vociferous in expressing some slighting,
now, seems no day passes without dissing or gaslighting.

The world is too loud and I need placid times,
but my thoughts are ambushed by protest and crimes.
While burning, and looting, history they replace,
bringing to their movement resentment and disgrace.

Today, segments of some cities are facing a coup,
there’s so much fake news, who knows what is true?
It’s cleverly reported inciting anger to peak,
tongues utter only what sinful hearts speak.

We witness flags ablaze and monuments torn down,
society as we knew it, has experienced a meltdown.
If revenge is payment for wrongs of some past day,
God has declared, “vengeance is mine; I will repay.”*

*Romans 12:19
“Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.”

Premium MemberLover and Fighter

Baffling, the turmoil... This warrior, she
with fiercest desire to safeguard the weak
and innocent, rises to squelch hostile fire,
protecting when able with crafts she’s acquired.

But lover prevails; she won’t raise a fist,
lest push comes to shove, and villain persists.
She elects tactful words to settle the score;
oft slighting herself, yet for others she'll roar...

And tear limb from limb when concessions won’t do
(her mind bends a notch when defender steps through).
Because she wants peace to fully endure,
she stays combat-ready with aims to secure.

With zest for the fight, she regards skillful motion,
though harm by her hand is a sickening notion.

Dragon Lady

There is a flame
in her painted red mouth.
I'm doused in the gasoline
of self doubt.
Together we make a forest fire
out of a glint on an incense tip.
A slighting remark
turns into a chain argument
spreading fast across town.
The dragon lady and I
meshed in anger and hatred
of a burning world.

The Buffett

I twice shortchanged Warren one of the two “t”s in Buffett. I found Ogden Nash did a fine job with double letters in "The Lama".
That inspired me to write, in apology for slighting Mr. Buffett:

The Buffet

The one-t buffet,
That's a punch,
Or a place to
Have your lunch.
The two-t Buffett?
He never knew
A fiscal crunch.
And I will bet
A silken tuffet
There isn't any
Three-t buffettt. *

--- Oliver Klosov
* The author regrets that he cannot duplicate
Ogden Nash's final “groaner” re a “three-t buffettt” . Pooh.

If that's not enough it will have to do. (heh heh)

Glass

We lie here together
Feet touching feet, Knee to knee
You and me, weaved into
a tangled messy heap

Your hair explodes across your pillow
A cloudy burst of brunette
Your breathe sighs a heavy relief
Slighting both our past

A past that ask tread carefully
Into a future of shattered glass
Brittle and already broken
Feet bloodied along its path

So what is one more splinter?
Into the souls of which we walk
From a life born into attrition
And deliverance by those we love

At Gateway yin

Long sham temple

Pink laced Taipei doll

 Sealed Carmine red lips

Chiseled etched

Fine porcelain

From the four

Corners horn

Erected during

monsoon

Dragon tail rains

Swept gale winds

Funnel golden sand

Through pearly whites

That smile no more

Slighting the whitest Pearl

Ever Beautiful

Lifeless love soul

Dress eroded salty seas

Passages are lingering..
