We lie here together Feet touching feet, Knee to knee You and me, weaved into a tangled messy heap Your hair explodes across your pillow A cloudy burst of brunette Your breathe sighs a heavy relief Slighting both our past A past that ask tread carefully Into a future of shattered glass Brittle and already broken Feet bloodied along its path So what is one more splinter? Into the souls of which we walk From a life born into attrition And deliverance by those we love
