Seltzer Poems

Premium MemberDissolve

I am like a little seltzer pill.
Effervescent bubbles deep inside.
You are the liquid all around me, all around...
Uncovering the joy that I would hide.
I want to dissolve myself in you.
	I want to dissolve.
So, wrap yourself around me as my body fades away.
	I want to dissolve.

I am like the ice in wintertime.
Cold and hard and oh, so slippery.
You are the sun beaming down. beaming down.
Evaporating all of what is me.
I want to dissolve myself in you.
	I want to dissolve.
So, wrap yourself around me as my body fades away.
	I want to dissolve.

It must be so much more than love.
This desperate need to bare myself to you.
You are the Pacific all around my tiny shell.
Enfolding me with in your balmy blue.
And your saline eats away at my defenses.
Eroding all my carefully made fences.
	Watch me dissolve...

In the end I want to be a part of you.
Swimming, drifting all around your soul.
I want to soak up all I can of you
Until my empty spirit becomes full.
I want to dissolve myself in you.
	I want to dissolve.
So, wrap yourself around me as my body fades away.
	I want to dissolve.

When tummies rumble, it’s a sign
that plumbing pipes are not aligned

Think back on what you chewed today
       Take Alka-Seltzer ~ Don’t delay

NOISE ANNOYS

NOISE ANNOYS

Externally it might emerge as a belch
Especially as the seltzer may just fizz
But inside, one may just hear the stomach squelch

Maybe a hiccup, well you know how it is
A grunt is quite the opposite, so they say
But no-one should cackle in a TV quiz

A silly giggle might just escape one day
Yet a howl might just be judged a bit too loud
But a laugh, not a bellow, that is Okay

Such sounds may amuse an audience or crowd
In a studio setting, rules can apply
But deafening silence is rarely allowed

Bodily functions can often go awry
And can surprise anyone, yet few know why

A Pilgrimage

Give it up. All of that. It is about Time. All of that.
I wish I could be another line, more than that!
A wedding, a red saree and a bracelet moment
A garnishing with flower petals and scientific hiccups
To see clouds, after or before Pepto-Bismol
To touch flowers after Alka seltzer
To seek supplication after understanding a motif
A smile, a long lost smile.
And a croon, touching for a synonym hand for a lull-a-bye!
And a tranquility, submerged in emptiness!

I used to have Alka-Seltzer stomachs
       spitting Excedrin headaches
Had a lot to like in a Marlboro
       even ate Aunt Jemima pancakes

I admit -- I thought Coke was xxxtt
was a member of the Pepsi Generation
Used to expect more from Standard
~ Did I ever get it?

Premium MemberA Night On the Town

The esoteric couple had a night on the town.
And, wow, they were so totally wasted.

Neither aspirin nor Alka-Seltzer, will ever
Repair the health, that both lambasted.

Nor would any marijuana do the trick!
Those fools even tried potent Thai-Sticks?

In truth, a glass is never empty
except in space, low pressure bell.

Though it appears half full of water,
the top half's occupied as well.

In fact, the moment you add water,
    the glass begins to overflow.

The air goes rushing out the top half,
    displaced by fluid from below.

Air and water, life's two great pleasures;
it's hard to choose between the two.

When under pressure, forced together,
    refreshing seltzer comes in view!

Seltzer Drink

A Coca-Cola bottle shape, sweet bubbly peaches, and cream
A moment, a time, could this be a Love Supreme?

My throat's parched and my tongue's lonely. I can't wait to pop that top, I'm serious so stop with the jeers
That effervescent fizz got my taste buds jumping. Oh how I love how they intrigue my ears

Anticipating and thinking of that moment of truth that wasn't even meant to last
Seizing the moment is paramount. So I'm drinking slowly, then fast and faster, before the fizz passes

Aaaaaahhhh! Good, very good but now it's gone just as quick as it came
Fleeting! So quickly back to reality. It's funny but I don't recall her name

An Answer To Breast Cancer

Soon, it got up to Dr. Spencer
Burning incense on coppery censer
In pursuit of a fitting answer
To the craziest hard hitting cancer:
A line he’d toed for an ulcer
And it result gave him for Gastric Seltzer…

Krishna clouds their way making for a breast,
Not for once letting be the crest,
Incense one, Incense two, up to eleven
In lieu of healing verses to The Heaven.

For a doctor openly radical
It shouldn’t often be the medical
Nor often needful the rightly surgical,
For cancer that could shame the methodical.

Untitled

Alone or just feeling lonely
I'm somehow Isolated in a crowded office
I feel a hole deep down somewhere
Essential workers never got a break
Unappreciated, we were told to keep going
Hard seltzer and vodka shots made it worse
Ill have time to make it right
I won't hide or drown myself in a binge
There's always time and it's not a race
For someone who truly wants it
I tell myself
To stop and buy him a cupcake
And his favorite coffee
I guess I'll get one for myself
Since I'm already here

Love and Lust

Show me a man, not engulfed in lust before love
Nor in the beginning craved her enchanting groove
Then I will show you a liar
As the burning wools, enliven the pride of a cooking stove
So inevitably depends on lust, your holy love
When your heart melt by her gracious sight
From his mantle a sweet seltzer you sip tonight
And both sirens screams with passion
In the end love is praised and lust, blamed
As with negativity, lust is framed
Oh! Dear lust, I shan't merry without you, nor ever love
Even a platonic desire can't undermine your fire
But if this puzzle be hard to solve
Remove lust and watch love dissolve.

Modern Appetite

Modern Appetite
by Michael R. Burch

"Women, wine, song ..."

It grumbled low, insisting it would feast
on blood and flesh, etcetera, at least
three times a day. With soft lubricious grease

and pale salacious oils, it would ease
its way through life. Each day—an aperitif.
Each night—a frothy bromide, for relief.

It lived on TV fare, wore pinafores,
slurped sugar-coated gumballs, gobbled S’mores.
When gas ensued, it burped and farted. ’Course,

it thought aloud, my wife will leave me. Whores
are not so damn particular. Divorce
is certainly a settlement, toujours!

A Tums a day will keep the shrink away,
recalcify old bones, keep gas at bay.
If Simon says, etcetera, Mother, may

I have my hit of calcium today?

Premium MemberFailed Facade

An empty seltzer bottle hangs loosely in his hand
Dust covers the surrounding seats
The trapeze swings lazily in an errant breeze
Applauded by the rustling of fall tinged leaves.
A rusting train bleeds on forgotten tracks
Tattered banners beckon the past.
He stares into an abyss of melancholy
Tweets his red nose, toots his wacky horn,
Wipes a final tear from his eye
His sad facade no longer a prop.
