Persist Poems

Lofty ambitions are not for the weak

A true test in pursuit of what we seek

Expect the unexpected when you dream

Wanting and needing…not what they seem

If they could align in moments of naïve wit

Don’t wish for something…work for it!

Bigots and Racists Will Persist

truthful and sincere
in right direction steer
honesty appear

a real earth shaker
they expelled two lawmakers
by fools and fakers

when they were expelled
bigots heads had been all swelled
cause trouble compelled

bigots and racists
have been part of a long list
will exist and persist

want to be knowing
when faces will be glowing
to well are going

God precious Son sent
based on public sentiment
we should all repent

Please Persist With Poetry

Please persist
With poetry,
Though you stand accused
Of wasting precious time
On the silly art of rhyme.

You have a task,
You poets.
Of re-presenting life,
The essence to attain
Thus making real again.

You live for others,
Via poetry.
Watching with all senses,
Hearing with emotions
And feeling through expressions.

You forge a link,
Through poems.
With lilting turn of phrase
And silky sequinned word
You make your reason heard.

You sow a seed
With poems.
So whoever cares to read
The slender lingual links
Will grow as your heart thinks.

You share yourself
In poems.
Laying bare your inner life,
Engaging our humanity
And so voiding your inanity.

You shift our views
With poetry.
Evading common sense
And using verbal dancers
To question all our answers.

So don’t give up
On poetry.
You owe it to yourself
To probe your mind with artistry
And weave your oral tapestry.

For You, I Persist

For You, I Persist

Nothing keeps me from you..
Besides perhaps 5142 miles
And a string of moments quietly ticking away in my clock.
For you, I persist.

Soon, the space between us will cease and we will be one. And an ocean of yearning and imagining and craving will at once evaporate and transform..
Into skies of mulit-colored fireworks, finger-painting the canvas’ of our hearts,
Into a galaxy of grace waltzing at the intersection of our lips,
Into an atomic eruption of irresistible feeling, bursting forth from our inevitable touch..
and at last, we will realize what all this waiting was for.

Pounded Fist and Will Persist

on table pounded fist
with her efforts must persist
added name to list

Friend is an expert et al.
Wrote this mentioned
by his wife.

My face is a cracked line that floats
       between flurry and decline
       squeezed open by promises unkept
                                   by imprints of messiness
by the after shocks of joy
Facial skin spotted,
       the sun's minted pay off
No resistance to the screen time of now
My profile settling like ash in a bin
but woven within the puzzle pieces of life
       grounded in all that's humane

My face touched by your hands
        shuts out addled history
        shuts out combustible fear
My face held in your hands allows me to think
        I could out run fire

Insist To Exist and Persist

Insist to Exist and Persist

would surely insist
it continues to exist
while we will persist

I Persist

I have become so weak now,
that the only strength I stand with,
is the strength of my attachment.
The attachment of my improbable love.

I now know, how I could not return,
from the depth of immense rain,
of love so deep.
So hard to deceive.

My heart still awakens,
in the light of hope,
of dreams so true,
memories revoke.

Admit Hate Crimes Exist and Persist

Hate Crimes Exist

We must admit that hate crimes do exist;
Are always there and continue to persist;
Others harming,
Never charming,
And we should cause to cease and desist.

Sonnet Xxiii Persist

Be Strong and Courageous
Says the Grand-Master
The Harvest is Plenteous
The Fields are Wide
Your Possibilities Are Endless

Be Strong and Courageous
I know you’re so sure of yourself
I know your Dreams are so Real to you
Likewise, real is the Messenger of Misery

You don’t have to be Pessimist
But be ye optimist of him too
Late or sooner, it is the path of greatness
Be strong and Courageous
Only the Persistent Do Exploits.

I Pray and Persist Horn Haiku

I Pray and Persist

Saw so many trees
That to me always will please
Along with cool breeze.

What I always like
About liberty is when it
Does not end or quit.

Wind is East or West
North or South which may be best
By them all are blessed.

When bells are ringing
Church choir has been singing
Faith should be bringing.

Heard as of latest
God will always be greatest
No one has He missed.

I Persist In Crediting

I persist in crediting....
That breastfeeding hatred and animosity
Could barely occasion war atrocity
Demolish houses and blameless lives reap
Petrify crestfallen minds and infants' poignant grief

That airplanes, tanks and other war toys
Could ravage, destroy and only thieve joys
Annihilate life and identities liquidate
Amplify aghast mortals and not emancipate

That peace stirring words could promote
Long-term stability and eschew portentous faults
Make ravage and hearts assault
Imprison sensible souls and ferocity halt

For any lesion would eventually heal
Come to medicate and revenge conceal
But that words of malediction linger
Boost hostility and ran our trigger

You may say these are mere fantasies
Engaging in a wild-goose chase
Like a mansion built upon sand
But could enmity our worries appease ?

Remember, all things considered,we are all housed in the same boat.

I Persist

Mad men scream inside my head

The dead feast upon my faith

Regurgitating what hope I have

Into the fire of damnation

Frustration engulfs me

Like the morning mist

Yet I persist in pursuing

The face of God.

Persist

Dreams don't always come true
and that I have to accept.
But you were so much better
than all the rest.
You always cared
and you always loved.
You were always there
when push came to shove.
I wanted so badly
to have you near.
But it's someone else
who you hold dear.
"Persist" you once told me
"Cause your dream might come true".
But when you gave me this advice
Did you know that my dream was you?
Sometimes I think you did
But then I'm not so sure.
It doesn't really matter anyway
Cause your advice I chose to ignore.
How could I persist
Once I knew the truth?
I couldn't even pretend to not know
Cause you'd given me the proof.
I dealt with it the best I could
And tried to hide my feelings from you.
But deep down inside of me
I am sure that you still knew.
So now I just sit and wait
And check the mail each day.
I hope that you are home real soon
Cause it's been lonely with you away.
