Chronicles of the revolving door
By Dustin Branum
When exactly does life begin? When will this
tragedy come to an end? It's like over, and over,
and over again... When will I ever find peace,
my friend? And nobody knows how far I've
been; Nobody cares about the pain
I'm in. This knowledge that
burns deep within, with
a withering soul,
reality will
bend.
The
light
turns dark
with a grayish
blend, begging for
mercy, it's demons they
send. The light is illusion I
can no longer depend—There's no
Destiny for me to defend. Yearning for
happy, acceptance, and Zen, Instead of this
anger and evil times ten. No kids, no wife, no
next of kin; Lonely and broken, this chapter will end...
Exactly where the it began.
Ah, I wanted snow
for Christmas, Lord,
but it came a day too late;
no kids came out,
all was darn quite!
Ah, I was waiting inside
for tons of snow...
where did Charlie Brown go?
I had my green hat on
and Santa's red suit,
I could swear they would
think I was him in flesh
and bones: what a clown!
I just resembled him,
a fat face with dimples,
they all laughed
at me, because
my belly was slim!
A spark of genius hit me,
I stuffed two big pillows
under my suit to look plum;
they didn't think it was funny.
they asked if I could make it snow,
I wasn't the Wizard of Oz,
nothing I could do; I said,
" Sorry to disappoint you,
it will make you blue! "
Darn kids, they jumped on me
and flattened my belly,
they laughed feeling so silly;
sunset came, no snow
in sight, wait up boys,
I'll make a wish, in minutes...
snowflakes fell on the lawn:
was it magic or a miracle?
The snowfall excited all!
Am I Chasing Death Alone
Life is short
Alone or with someone
Being single
Less trouble
Easier on your wallet
I’m kind of selfish
No Kids
Peace and quiet
Lonelyness I’ve become
Isolation, cling to no one
Who’s going to care for you when you're old?
Something to think about
Emptiness all around
You can’t have both
Am I Chasing Death Alone?
Silent rooms
Memories of one
Grow old under the sun
A lonely life
The end could be any time
A journey of melancholy
No one to stop by and visit me
In the cemetery
Have another drink alone
Amber whisky, numb
What is the shore without the sea
Aimlessly wondering watery dreams
Deferred desolate depressed empty
Is how I am without love in me
That one true love for which one is blind
Without it there is darkness blackest of times
Is like a blue bird without a heart song
No white wind of romance to carry it on
Without love there is nothing to fight for
No reason to desire life would be a bore
Amethyst art would starve forever more
No apple of the eye to amber adore
Without love music would be dead
The humming of machinery could be heard instead
Humanity would die off no kids born
Feelings would be liability and scorned
Without love I am an empty cocoa shell
With no inspiration no wishing well
No dedication or passion that bleeds
That is what lack of love does to me
He Don’t go outside he’s got too much fear
He’s brain is fried from weed and Gear
He’s got no kids and hes got no wife,
he’s got no friends he’s got no life
He’s got trippy tunes running round he’s mind
The things he’s lost he’will never find
He’s 25 but he looks real old
He’s skin grey and he’s hands are cold
There’s a shadow running through he’s days
No purple heart just purple haze
He can’t change he’s ways can’t win the fight
He knows it’s wrong but it feels so right
He can’t find cure he can’t break the spell
He’s passenger on a train to hell
He’s no good to the world he’s lost he’s way
He’s a burden on society
No respect and no concern
When he walks by the heads will turn
He’s bodys thin his skin is grey
He looks like he won’t last the day
??
When I was a kid free candy was a dream
And the only reason to enjoy Halloween
I never was one to wear spooky clothes
I was the princess nurse or singer you know
I became a mom and did delight
In letting my son enjoy the night
His grannie got him a costume I didn’t like
He was scream for Halloween a fright
Now that I’m old with no kids to scold
I look back over my days of old
I don’t celebrate Halloween anymore
I don’t knock those who do enjoy the gore
Now people have to be careful
Some are mean and not prayerful
Dangers of poison in candy so wild
Or worse even sex offender pedophile
I saw Halloween as a creative day
It now is a unsafe holiday without faith
Unless you are careful and you behave
But the fun seems to be slipping away
No war, just love
Peaceful kind hearts need us to come into our life
I am afraid, I had death feelings, no love kind like
… Emma, passed our lives.
… No kids.
… No kinds.
… Passed loves.
No war, love, but I am a dead man, our kind you are gone; I am love
I can’t my life, just need to get my own home; in a heart. Home.
A love from our home of your heart is an empty cold room
… from your kind.
Can’t accept a stranger’s life, he needed to give you lives
… to our kinds
I loved you
Can be?
Forgotten
My only life.
No war, just life
Forget me
Enjoy your life
Emma
Driving me
The Light
Go
No war
Just love
Only love?
Bye, the…
Light
Home wasn’t all the apartment I’ve had a bed in
Or the house where I finally had my own room
It was in my mothers arms and
In my fathers late drunken talks
Home isn’t the blue painted room I was given
Home has three other kids talking to me every hour
And three cats by my feet
Every time I opened the fridge
Now my feet are cold when I sleep
For there’s no cat snuggling beside them
Home isn’t quiet.
It has the sound of food cooking
With songs playing too loud on the speakers
While children play
But now all I hear is the tick tock of the
clock on my desk
Now I wear both of my earbuds
For there’s no one that will call my name,
Needing me to go do something.
There’s no kids I’m hearing out for.
No cat bell prancing around
Or the sound of my dads car when it locks
Home was in a Mustang I washed every weekend
Or before heading ten minutes down the road
To see the love of my life
But now even they aren’t there anymore
As I walk and wander around these are the changes
I have found.
Children text they don't talk anymore.
They hardly use bins just throw trash on the floor.
No kids in the park on swings and climbing frames
Just sat indoors playing video games.
Walk to the shop it isn't that far
But for a five minutes walk you use the car.
So much has changed since I was a lad
But the world seemed much better with what
Little we had.
Real Not Fiction
A hole is a hole said the Mule
As he stuck his stump up a slapper
This saying was mirrored by another
Who told a story of his friends
And what recently happened
One long term friend has a gal
They’d been together 7 years
And planned to get married
Spending a lifetime together
Already lovers and more
You know how it goes
So to be happy in bliss
But a big problem arose
Another old school pal
Caused a fuss with the gal
Who was a guy before!
So now you’re a gal not a guy
How did that come about?
A trip to Thailand and cash
Lots of cash from her rich family
The school pal seeing the gal
Wasn’t aware of any of this
Just that he was in love
Happy and going to be married
To a gal who was once a guy
He was oblivious to this
Unlike the other ex-pupil
They gave the gal guy it
A week to tell her fiancé
All of the truth of they’d do it
I told the pal who knew them all
Make sure the guy who
Knew them all
Never killed the gal
Who was once a guy
Like the American one
What will happen
Within this week
Happiness or war?
A hole is a hole
Even if no kids
Reality not fiction

At five fifty pounds he was fat
he looked silly just wearing a hat
Mrs. Clause was turned off
when his clothes he would doff
so no kids would inherit that hat
A great old gal was she dancing all night with such glee
traveling here and there by land and sea giving love to all she would see she would often say "the golden years aren't so golden" and then flee
what could she mean-she has everything even boxes of tea
taking a closer look you will see she had buried two loving husbands and had no kids from thee piles of money and things mean little when you get old she would plea
when you get old you need friends and family she prayed on her knee.

In my wildest dreams, never thought I'd be one
But I'm now a mall walker, my life's come undone
Mostly eighty much bolder
No kids on my shoulders
Decrepit but still cookin' before I succumb
Free as a mockingbird singing
No kids in sight and unmarried
Had one husband, but now none
Colleges broaden my horizon
Learning about the world
Heartache and heartbreak
Lost in the frenzy of despair
To death and grief
Lost the grip of my father's clasped hand
Visualizing roses tossed in the air
High School graduation day
Drawing pictures in the IRS building
Clasping my father's hand firmly
It's take your daughter to work day
Ears clear with clarity
As my mother sings me to sleep
A horizon of toys block my view
In my cradle fast asleep
