Phoenix was a local shop,
As funky as could be,
And most times when I’d visit,
There’d be something there for me.
The owner and his partner
Loved to travel and explore
And from everywhere they went,
Their shopping sprees would stock the store.
From jewelry to sculpture,
Blankets, pottery and rugs,
Every item held your interest,
Not a place for yawns or shrugs.
Took a ride today to Phoenix
And the shop was just a shell,
Not one object there to look at,
Nothing left for them to sell.
One more loss I must acknowledge -
That’s the way things seem to go.
Soon there won’t be anything around
Of what I used to know.
Orpheus and Eurydice
Come by,allow me to rest my knees
on those sinewy thighs!
I do not feel like feeding my mortal
body!
Just want your love to flood my eternal,
starving soul.
In my loneliness~ thoughts of you
crash my thoughts, endlessly!
Like an empty seashore thirsting
for crests of cool water..you...
My musical love partner!
Flood this immutable soul and then,
With tender love and with satiated souls,
We will rise, immortally.
Fulfilled, free and blessed.
Orpheus and his Eurydice, to dance in
ancient and splendiferous Arcadian skies
....eternally!

In quiet moments and golden spaces,
It tells a tale of grace and growth.
Words used to be shadows, but now they are light.
Anu makes things right by speaking clearly [1].
To hear every murmur and ease every suffering, with ears that now open like petals to rain.
Feeling the tone instead of just hearing it
A steady listener, the greatest known
We wandered the aisles of Justrite four times.
To peaceful, lovely times spent at home.
While traveling to Offa and Ede's lengthy sweep,
are the miles of memories we have accumulated to preserve.
After a year of gradual and genuine exploration,
Your listening skills have improved, and your voice has become softer.
Every hour we spend together, I see a new Anu—a confidante, a partner, and everything to me.

The story of the thirsty crow,
heard during school days as we grew...
How best in it its wisdom used,
to quench its thirst that summer day
An efficient use of available resource,
to realise a fruitful purpose..
A display of prowess in its fullest sheen,
a situational managerial skill !
Relating crow with intelligence is
not just a random chance factor
Research has already proven that-
This ave is witty and wiser!
Strong in memory,mimicry and
understanding humans as well..
How well this bird integrates in our life
with its adaptive behavioural skill!!!
Elegant black and beautiful
dissolved in it every shade...
Leads a gregarious life,
Shares its food, whenever it finds,
with its kith and kin...
Spreading a message of joy in sharing
and a cordial social life!!!
Chooses a single partner all its life,
Builds its nest, feeds the young,
Protects and nutures them with love ..
Family values and responsibility, I wonder
how it plans and executes so well!!!
Corvus brachyrhynchus-
this is its scientific name...
Genus corvus has in it species numbering forty
American crow, hooded crow, house crow....
List stretches in continuity!
Oh crow! You have your place in
every walk of life!
Research, religion, ritual,
Mythology, folklore, cultural...
Irish mythology sees in you- Morrigan,
God of death and birth
Hindu religion regards you as
their departed ancestor!
Tibetian buddhists associate you with Mahakala
Omens of you are believed to bring
signals from the uncanny world!
You are treated as a connecting link in
the cycle of birth and death!
Oh darling crow! Cheers to you!
This poem in thy name!
Back in nineteen hundred and three
I working with a logging crew,
cutting and limbing mighty trees,
be they hemlock, pine, or spruce.
We worked for the Nowell Paper firm,
in the shades of the Adirondacks,
spent all winter in Camp Seven,
sending full sleds down icy tracks.
One morning in late December
we got up before the dawn,
that was just par for the course,
our work days were rather long.
We made it to the cook-house,
where waited the salt pork,
with flapjacks and potatoes fried,
we ate until enrgorged.
Then with a nod to the bull cook,
to let him know he’d done good,
we grabbed our axes, our crosscut saws,
and headed out into the woods.
By noon we worked a stump garden
we’d cleared back in the fall,
when we’d cut down the spruces
though a few still stood tall.
Those ones are the seed trees,
to make sure it grows again,
but the ones we felled we had cut
into fourteen-foot lengths.
Now in that deep chill of winter
we worked with our pike-poles,
hauling the logs to big sleds
drawn by horses, rather cold.
We stacked them for the ice road,
in air that made all shiver,
the teamster waited to haul it
all the way down to the river.
Now lumberjacks always work in pairs,
and my partner was Guy Montreaux,
a Quebecois better with an axe
than any farmer with a hoe.
He was quite an entertaining man,
lifted spirits in our shanties,
and knew the words to every bawdy song
ever sang in the north country.
On that grim day he huffed loudly,
having been put through his paces,
as he loaded up the last big log
a horse jolted back in its traces.
The equine kicked, the pile shook,
the teamster cried,’Get clear!”
Me and the boys all dove away,
filled with a familiar fear...
CONCLUDES IN PART II.
Forcing myself
to live in green-
belt of forest with
no civil comforts or concerns
I don’t flinch. I won’t.
Living in
extremes of
two seasons
cinder-hot Sun
drowning rain
I don’t complain, I can’t
one summer was different
A passionate couple
Fire-Air, waltzed through
acres of my nearby forest,
grey-burning lives small & big –
I didn’t cry.
After HER party, I
went to see the charred
landscape, my heart thumped
wild, I could feel my soul in throat –
I didn’t cry
I stilled my thoughts - I
knelt to feel, I knelt
to beat coal-black ground, I
thumped chest, I flayed my
hands to sky, I howled,
Roared, wailed, cried
I clenched my fist,
boxed at guiltless air, I
called his partner names –
I sobbed back to silence
With impotent-raging silence
my hands cradled a tiny
dying burnt bird gasp for last
gulp of air, I knelt
in silence. That day
I cried, I missed God that day
I sobbed back to silence
the joyous partner the microwave
it has become my chef
alas not quite my mother's hand
but for its swiftness of foot
there is no other
yes i survive on the TV dinner
oh dear Lord i have shown my age
frozen until my vittles need calling
it is a world of the chophouse
from a hashery where most dine
no fuss, just plain celerity needed
those exquisite tastes, hidden within
lucious noodles and sauces
from white to red
and should that become a disaster
there is always ketchup
Siracha, Hot Mustard, Orange, Honey
it is almost endless for Asia
the frozen dinner section sublime
those long rows packaged and waiting
almost a walk in the Lourve of paintings
as you ogle those reflections in frosted doors
i become a child on Christmas morning
Master Chef in TV Dinnerland
the trick is in the additions
a tad of salsa, or perhaps sour cream
of course scads of butter on taters
A1 or H57 sauce on the meatloaf, or Salisbury
in the vegetable department a loverly
chopped, ready-to-go medley
of onion, celery, and carrot
jalapenos, green chilis, olives
come already in cans chopped
simply sprinkle on at last minute
but the greatest joy held in my heart
is when i place the holy offering
i would never eat, retrieved from garbage
into that loverly microwave
always upon a microwave-safe plate
gently affixing an impediment to door
wait for that loverly moment
when that pesky fly enters to dine
slam the door in most haste
hit that 3-minute button
nothing more civilized than well done
then wait for that pure joy
when the whistling, whirling stop
light goes off, and the wonderful
ding, ding, ding of a job well done
let the philosophers and theologians
go on, and on about revenge
but i vote it is best when microwaved
loverly i say

Invited into Her circle
of five points,one for each
of the qualities She crystallizes,
truth as fire, earth as nourishment,
body in water, lights in air, and ether as love,
in Her center a sacred thought having origin in primal purpose,
we embraced as immortals do,
mouth to ear and song to song,
mind to memory and wish to wisdom,
connecting with the ease of melody on morning's hope,
frollicing within the gamble of a galaxy grown mad from curiosity,
the path of the Prime Mover performs a pounce along our venerable vertebrae,
She widens a door which illuminates a portico, columns white marble and red veins,
tempered flames in low tremble make vigil to the death bed masks of ancestors,
who made glory a partner against multitudes of dangers, such as living without loyalty,
encouraged by Her gravitas,Her need for a hero,I stared into those vacant eyes
on the pedestals held upright by iron frames, and I heard them chant I must for Her,
made so lovely with a crown of moon glow,
I kissed this Woman's hand, heaven in my sight,
my oath to vindicate Her from profane might,
I awoke facing a mirror, believing in Her dearly,
my headgear fastened and plumed,
feathers of a hawk and eagle divinely sprout atop,
from then I only knew Her words, and a dreamy picture,
however,I trusted Her affection,I could live on Her meaning -

for we will always remember
two birds who shared a vicious story.
causing havoc and destruction
to our memory
our hearts and our glory.
Visions of falling figures
jumping in desperation
for they had no freedom.
Crossing over to the light
knocking on heaven's door
known as His Kingdom.
Courageous men in uniform with badges,
and some with firehoses and axes
are now missing in action.
And as the chain of events unraveled
this mountain of blazing thunder
opens my heart
to voices from up under.
I come to you, in honor of these brothers,
with great gratitude and respect.
for they took a vow
to honor, serve and protect.
for on this tragic day of events
we all lost a mother,
a father,
a sister,
a brother,
a friend,
and a partner.
who's never been more honored.
for I am the voice speaking out to you
on this day.
Wishing you the very best.
needing to show our support,
love and respect.
but time is of the essence,
now can we bow our heads,
close our eyes
and pray...
Father,
We are all here to celebrate
and to commemorate a treasure
we found in our brothers.
for this is a simple thank you,
for the gift of hope.
for this is the rope
that gave us all
a choice to grieve and cope.
may you continue to bless our heroes,
until we meet again.
With love,
signed...
THE VOICES FROM UP UNDER
Amen.

Acquiring a partner soul entails a careful dive,
In calm depths, their true nature comes alive.
Only then do waves prevail, twisting their prey,
Can we track a hint of empathy in society today?
All life begins below; we are just on the surface,
It's a labyrinth of anxiety, a bay of turbulence.
The objective is to grasp peeves and apprehensions,
Despite dread, we will learn to swim via emotions.
Shadows, depths, and darkness intertwine,
We drift along in the current, seeking our line.
We bear the weight of their weary waves,
They share their aches and abet safe paves.
Yet it was a deep gaze, not one of shallowness,
Stepping into another's universe, fallowness.
To appreciate their journey and their plight,
Let's embrace depth to find peace in the night.
So, we'll all jump into the same pit in tandem!
Where does the wind lie, where truth is random?
Down memory lane, in a passionate embrace,
Can we utterly claim to comprehend your grace?
