High As A Kite Poems | Examples

run

long nights
eyes wide
sky lights
heart racing
i am within my rights
to reach for your hand
without regrets or fearful plights
lips thrum nervously
i know your soul; flying high as a kite
never tameable
unless i tether you here holding with all my might
for i know it is you who easily falls away
and i would not let you go for truth bites
and lies are so easy to tell
i love you and isnt that my own fight?

Premium Member Oh good - Aubade

I wake again, the sky still ash
Mostly soft, not quite the weight of lead
seen at five a.m; that god awful flash
of knowing there is nothing when dead

Here inside a room, trying to recall
if sleep or darkness shapes it all
Whiskey breath eats away my face
Oh good! Aubade… finally shows a trace

The afterlife sleeps in, it always does
Woken up in the usual way
Another drink, a top-up buzz
Lifts my spirits, just above dismay

I fumble around with unopened post
Get dressed, eat flakes, feeling like toast
Hope and despair make a meagre pact:
That life bears fruit, and breakfast lacked

I breathe, then sniff, try steady a hand
light a smoke, or slap on a patch
Gesture defiance, attempt to stand
brave it out past the hallway latch

Go search, or not, for what comes after
opt in, opt out, call on the pastor
Who's high as a kite on altar wine,
“There's nothing” he sobs, “or do you bring a sign?”
His eyes light up, as I offer him a line
And you know! that day turned out just fine.

Premium Member I Made a Friend Tonight

        Snappy, Snippy, Slap-happy
           I made a friend tonight

        Loopy, Lippy, Lollapa-Lucy
           Sure feels good, alright

        Hearty-hardy, Uber-tea-party
We’ll fly high as a kite

        Golly-gee, Gosh-m’nee
Do it up right, her and me

Premium Member My Love Of Friends

Every day's a gift, I fly high as a kite
Love of my friends, shining ever so bright
The small things in life
Cost a very small price
They raise my spirits as my soul takes flight

High But Not Mighty

Taken the high road
Every damn time
Ending up in the gutter
No matter how hi I climb
Saddle up my high horse
Lead it to water
Same creek different source
One paddle is all they offer
High strung out and out of sorts
Last blast comes with no laughter
Burning bridges the last resort
Blown sky high regret pours soon after
Settn sail three sheets to the wind
High as a kite in lightning storm disaster
In a handbasket hell is destined
Desperate high times spent n plastered
Chasing that dragon that's got me imprisoned
Hell or high water the path to rock bottom is the only pursuit I've mastered

Premium Member Prehistoric Man

There are certain times in everyone's life
When we stop and sit there stunned
We meet this sweetie who blows us away
A totally unexpected someone

You find out things you never knew
Bout this person who blows your mind
A quality that's so infectious and sweet
It's head over heels defined

You're over the moon, as high as a kite
You are literally blown away
In love with a creature who's so amazing
They've no equal in any way

Your appetite's gone, your mind is mush
No idea the time of day
You're incoherent while talking with people
Can't decipher what I say

So it all comes down to love sweet love
With us for thousands of years
We all revert back to a prehistoric man
When that sweet sweet soul appears

Why I Should Be Your Wife

I will explain why I should be your wife.
I can be your daily dose of sunshine.
Cuz you will be the reason for my life.
All that I need is for you to be mine.
Because, you see, it won’t be about me.
It will be about us throughout our time.
Through troubling and bad times, I will not flee.
It matters not if you don’t have a dime.
I know our love will keep us together.
The day we met, it was love at first site.
Our hearts both felt as light as a feather.
You know, we both felt as high as a kite.
The past for us both has been so much stress.
It’s time we should marry for God to bless.

Bad Victims

I am Freaking the F+!K OUT!
Off the hook look out I shout
Straight eyes laced with buckets of doubt
Trying to figure out what you're all about
Blood pressure high as a kite
Paranoid look left, look right
Dumbfounded your look shining not so bright
You picked the wrong victim tonight
Double backed behind a wall I hide
Me and my girl die or ride
As you pass we step by your side
The rest is a story off how you died

Bye...Bye...

Rampant Lethargy

R is for the repeated distortions of facts,
A for press articles written with hacks,
M for the emphasis placed on survival,
P for the piss taken out of your rival.
A for analogies that never convince,
N for false narratives making us wince,
T for traditional values cast-off
That cause umpteen scholars and clergy to scoff.

L is for lovers whom I dream of all night,
E for electric bills high as a kite,
T for temptations I can’t keep at bay,
H for Matt Hancock - please God stay away!
A is for the **** he fondled intensely,
R for resigning - we respect that immensely,
G is for the government of which he was part, and
Y for the yes-men aboard that rotting cart.

Sabbath Script Chore

Gershon was chastising Seth
For being unfaithful to Beth
As high as a kite
Seth swore he'd do right
And his wife was tickled to death!

An Ode To Ap Literature

I do not see further meaning
behind the choice of word
To analyze this is demeaning
I think it is absurd

Whoever decided to write this
must of been high as a kite
If you want this class to be treacherous
stab me to make it a fair fight

The only thing less moving than poetry
is the clock up on the wall
Time is is no hurry
to set me free into the hall

My teacher tries to no avail
perhaps I’m unable to learn
Or maybe all poets are evil
and just want the world to burn

Premium Member Halloween At My House

A dense fog drifted in on us Halloween night
Adding to the thickening atmosphere of fright,
Fanciful spirit-like creatures presented a sight
From sheet-clad ghosts to Superman’s might.
One father, I am certain, was high as a kite
His little boy was dressed as a Medieval knight.

To my door came Dracula with a toothy bite
While, strangely, Frankenstein carried a light.
A cackling witch made my face turn snow white
My favorite was a tiny, three-year-old sprite
Who tried “Trick or Treat,” but never said it right
All in all, it was an experience of pure delight.

Premium Member On My Own Path

Slips never mattered, when I crawled
from hands and knees, came tiny falls
sometimes face first, into a wall
kissed all better, lil child don’t bawl
on my own path, hard to recall

Following on, where footsteps go
across blown sands, atop fresh snow
from grasses green, to highlands low
a life’s journey, comes fast and slow
on my own path, unsure I know

Heard about God, the Devil too
I tempted fate, pushing on through
at times blinded, by my own view
took dark shortcuts, found the taboo
on my own path, just not so true

Wherever I stepped, fit or lame
high as a kite, lowly with shame
way off target, taking great aim
finding myself, throwing the game
on my own path, alone to blame

what comes next, is anyone’s guess
keep tripping up, repent this mess
bear my sins, yet never confess
die whilst I sleep, partial success
on my own path, forks wilderness

Premium Member High As a Kite

(It's not what you're thinkin'! LOL)

My heart goes out to all those souls
Who've never experienced love
An experience to share that's like no other
There's no greater feeling above

The joy of my life and it surely still is
A feeling of completeness, of joy
My heart has forever been overflowing
With love since I was a boy

It's why every day I start with a smile
Never to begin with a frown
A happy outlook is what does the trick
Nothing can ever bring me down

Must always try to avoid saying never
Life has proven me right
It's the way it has been, just a total joy
My emotions are high as a kite
