Mountebank


Step right up and have a lick of this 
it will make you smack your lips 
with sweet vavoom that you can't miss  
its will cure your all, plus its got zip  

Common folks don't be afraid, here try 
it will save Mary and maybe cousin Jim
Tastes like easy-peasy lemon pie  
just hold the cup an clean the rim 

Come closer and I promise not to bite 
it will seize you immediately 
You'll soon be feeling high as a kite 
the best part is, my advice comes free 

For a mere tend dollars you get to be happy 
here you go, get a move on make it snappy.

I think you meant "and" in the last line of the 2nd stanza. That aside, I loved your poem, Vienna. It flows well and made me chuckle. Heartiest congratulations on your win in my contest!

Mountebanks come in all sizes and genders. Once my wife received an anonymous call saying I was unfaithful. Good thing my wife knew me well. Great poem. Hugs.

Yep! I have been deceived many times...and, just as often, willingly played the fool. It seems that, life and temptation go together...like Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Excellent poetry!
